    Bloodmyth

If you go down to the woods today, you won't get a big surprise, not if you've seen this kind of film before, namely a mixed group of guys and gals – this time on a survival course – and a lunatic intent on killing them all. The only question is, will he indeed kill them all or only some of them? Usually films of this nature are made in the USA, and on occasion, Australia, but just as the good stuff comes to Britain from America – rock 'n' roll, for example – so does the bad stuff, and this particular bad UK offering takes place in the wilds of…Kent.

This film is also part of another genre, namely the cut price austerity offering, and as often with such films it is made by amateur or at best small, independent, or whatever you want to call them, film-makers. That doesn't mean it is doomed, but when all you have is a basically a small group of people walking around in the woods trying to avoid the psychopath, how good can it get? The sad answer is not very. It is not giving away too much to say some of the group survive until the end of the film, but the big question is, will you?

    Bloodmyth: Potential meets incompetence

Bloodymyth is about a group of 20 somethings who go on a survival trip out into the woods led by a former marine and a television personality. But as always things don't go to plan as they start getting picked off by an unseen assailant.

Now as generic as that sounds there is actually a bit of substance here, trouble is it's the hands of people with little competence.

This British ultra indie film is so poorly made it damages the content irreparably which is a shame because there was potential here.

Awfully filmed, poorly balanced audio and choreography that is beyond laughable.

Decent enough idea, poor execution. It's films like this that need remaking.

    The Good:

    Concept is solid

    The Bad:

    Dreadfully made

    Sound editing is painful

    • Trivia
The film was originally to be shot in a woodland owned by a local landowner but he withdrew the offer due to fears that the film might involve witchcraft and would anger local villagers. The film had to be shot mostly on a location at the bottom of a garden.
