Lloyd Boyd becomes a personal preacher without attending seminary or being ordained by any denomination.

I saw this film at the Secret City Film Festival where it won the top award for feature films.

Having seen lots of independent Christian films, my expectations for I Flunked Sunday School were not high. However I was pleasantly surprised by the story line which used Lloyd Boyd, personal preacher as the yarn that weaves together three subplots.

The characters are well developed. They are likable and humorous. Many of us will see ourselves and others we know in these characters who tend to lead Lloyd into awkward situations.

I highly recommend this film to everyone, but Christians will be especially pleased to see a Christian film that finds humor and love rather than preaching and judgment.

    A Must See Movie

This film humorously, but sensitively deals with the question, "Is it possible to experience doubts about a genuine call from God?" Lloyd Boyd is convinced he has received a call from God to be a "personal preacher." Unsure of what that is, he trusts God enough to set out on a journey of discovery. He becomes vulnerable and offers himself to the call. Perhaps he is somewhat idealistic. His trust and vulnerability are admirable. But he soon discovers things do not go as he hoped. He begins to doubt himself and his call. Perhaps his call was nothing more than something he ate! Many of us have started out with a sure sense of call from God, but when things don't turn out as we had envisioned, we begin to doubt ourselves and our call. This movie helps us see where God is at work behind it all. A must see film!

Anyone who's ever felt a calling and questioned its nature can probably relate to the humorous yet provocative case of Lloyd Boyd, personal preacher. Although Boyd's particular mission is not as daunting as certain Biblical cases, it presents its own quirky set of amusing challenges. Those who embrace a faith not merely in hopes of an ethereal destination but as a committed journey will relate to this film in a meaningful way.

The Bolex film camera used by Lloyd (13) and Stinky is the actual camera the director used to make his first short when he was in High School. Rented from a local camera store for the project, it was returned at the end of the summer. 36 years later the director found the camera on eBay.
