I loved this show so much and I was dying to purchase it but it was NEVER released. The actors are all phenomenal and the characters are super funny. Hopefully it will be available one day,
If you like Reno 911 you'd love Halfway Home. I love this genre of comedy. Reno 911, Dog Bites Man, Halfway Home and American Body Shop are full of improv style jokes. The filming style is perfect. As for it being an offensive show, that may be your take, but if it is I assume you don't like any of these kinds of shows. Reno 911 could be considered offensive, yet it's one of the most popular shows on Comedy Central.
I hear there isn't going to be a second season and that is a horrible move. It's not a stupid, offensive show. It's hilarious. The characters are original and have their unique quirks that make each joke all the better. The un-political correctness is a commentary on our culture. The diversity of the cast and the diversity of the comedy makes this a great watch.
I love this show and really hope that they will reconsider pulling it off the air. If people watch Reno 911, I don't see why they don't watch this show.

I've laughed out loud several times while watching this show. The characters are stereotypical sure, but that's the joke. The Hispanic male prostitute cracks me up. MANgina is what he calls his "undercarriage". On family day his father arrived to say "the men in our family have been male prostitutes for generations and my son is the first one to be arrested" His makeover tips get him a job offer at the local make-up counter. C-BASS is the would be tough guy and black activist that grew up in Bel Air. Serenity is the plus sized inmate who operates on the premise that all white people are afraid of blacks. This is a COMEDY CENTRAL after all and if it is to have a chance at all in the vast wasteland of comedy show it's got to be over the top. That's what we've come to expect from COMEDY CENTRAL. Humor we can't find on the networks.
A good idea for a comedy that would only work on cable. This would never fly on the networks.
There's enough wild humor here to keep people interested. It's not really offensive either. It's a good watch if your favorite show isn't on.
Breakdown;
Ken is your law enforcement type to a "T." Right down to the 'stache. And his patient cluelessness reminds one of M*A*S*H's Henry Blake.
Making the black radical type wasn't new, but making his crime internet fraud was a good change.
The arsonist with the mother complex was a bit old though.
Carly was your classic sleepwalking hippie type. Likable while annoying during her more spacey times. And are they trying to make her look sexy by giving her shorts and tube socks? If so, is it working?
The flaming gay Hispanic was not new either. And his crime being prostitution was also trite. But the character was still a gas.
And the Serendipity character, as amusing as she may be, and Octavia is doing a great job in the role, is REALLY unoriginal. How many more loudmouthed "bitch" types do we need?
So, I guess I'm saying this.
Apart from the idea, it's NOT original. But it IS funny. Good job gang, and welcome aboard.

i think that cast is really talented and the characters and situations could have proved quite fertile ground had it been given more seasons. crenshaw house was like the island of misfit toys; a haven for those who can't help but be their destructive selfish selves- all under the supervision of Kenny, who see's with his heart and not his brain. it's not Sophie's choice, but it's fun to watch. c-bass was great, Carlie is funny and adorable, the gay dude has many great lines and is played well. serenity is funny and the arsonist is OK. it's the dynamic. and of course Kenny. he is a such a good guy with great lines. rock on crenshaw. boo wilshire house!!
