    Excellent food for brain

Very deep movie that is bold enough to ask those fundamental questions of life that seem to be completely out of fashion nowadays. The film is technically very well done, the actors are up to the not so easy challenge and sometimes they perform at the highest levels, but the most outstanding thing is the script. The movie can be seen as an excellent investigation on fear. Fear of Death, but, most important, fear of Life. If this was not enough, the script also delivers a wonderfully well packaged metaphor of the relationship between USA, Europe and the rest of the world. If you are in the mood to think, take your time ad watch this movie about your fears and be aware: you are gonna watch it again (I will!) ;-)

    Why all the bad reviews???!!!

Maybe the people giving bad reviews didn't watch the film all the way through. Its true the acting/script seems a little strange in parts, but otherwise this film is seriously intense. The ending had me hanging on the edge of my seat, and there are twists that come completely unexpectedly. Will he live or will he die? The answer is definitely worth the build-up.

Its true its fairly slow moving to start with but the whole way through it begs for a conclusion which makes it all the more rewarding when one finally comes.

If you're interested in human psychology, you will like this film.

You like it or hate it.

I would tend to give someone a break in directing their first film. This was a psychological horror movie that was difficult to grasp. You have to go back to the though that that which you fear will haunt you.

medical errors, profit-driven medical care, and Terry Schiavo all play a part here in an attempt to do something intelligent and beyond the average horror film.

Dies it work. Only the viewer can determine for him/herself. I thought it was interesting and Thomas Cavanagh did a great job. It had some funny moments, and some strange one - a nurse in high heels? The horror was there, but what was the real horror? You'll be asking the question long after the movie is over.

    The Interpretation of Dreams

This movie is very watchable, yet provocative and also slightly irritating-all at the same time. The latter because the way it is presented is somewhat obscure and must be highly confusing for some people. Rather like a painter on canvas the work which is created may be obvious to the artist, but others can see it differently or simply not see the same as the artist or indeed not see it at all. Nevertheless I found this film generally good and interesting.

A middle age successful man is shortly to go into hospital for a routine procedure but is troubled by a recurring dream. After he awakes from the procedure he is subjected to a series of horrendous events in the hospital. Are these events really happening or as I interpret it: is he simply going through a nightmare and experiencing his fears etc?

All the performers are excellent, the design of the film is first rate and the music is often brilliant. I myself consider this movie more like a black comedy/horror and overall I conclude it deserves: 7/10.

If u spend ur whole life worrying then the only way that ur life will hav meaning is if what ur fear becomes real...

This film had potential but it is tedious n very predictable. A family man admits himself to a hospital for a routine test. A nite before his hospital admission, he is celebrating his fortieth birthday wher he n his pals discuss about iatrogenic illness. Later we come to know that his stay in the hospital gonna be long cos of some serious medical negligence. This film is more like a low budget Jacob's Ladder. Tension n suspense ain't present, zero kills, a lousy sex scene n it gets a bit tedious towards the end. Mentioning the film Jacob's Ladder may be spoilers for some. Saw this few days back on a dvd which I own. It had been inside my drawer for almost a decade. Wasn't getting the excitement after reading the name Jacob's Ladder in the review section.

Mandingo: You ready for a little lesson? To be set free? For a dose of reality? First: the lesson. Do you know who I am? I told you my name, bitch. You forget that? I know you ain't forget that! Come on, you caucasian motherfucker! Say it while you still got a pair.

George Grieves: [through his breathing tube] Mandingo.

Mandingo: That's right. That's my name. But do you know who I am?

George Grieves: [stammers unintelligibly attempting to reply]

Mandingo: No, I mean in the metaphorical sense, motherfucker. DO YOU KNOW WHAT I AM?

      [leaps onto George's chest]

Mandingo: I am the weight on your chest. I'm your cauchemar - your pesadilla - your Alptraum - your incubo, yo. I'm the morbid oppression of the night. I am the fear behind your left titty. I am the dark un-fucking-known.

Mandingo: I'm the father of cool, and the king of jazz, and the porch-sitting watermelon-sucking brother who fucks up neighborhoods and breeds gangsters, and makes your dick feel small. I am mud-hut-building spear-chucking darkest Africa. I am the king of Egypt; grandpappy of ALL the sand-niggas.

      [shouts some middle-eastern words]

Mandingo: The lord of 'they', 'them', and all them that be 'other'. I AM THE ARMY OF ISLAM!

      [weeping]

Mandingo: I'm the sickle-cell yardape that's been fucking with your dosage. The jungle-bunny that's been guarding your drip... drip... drip... DRIP.

      [menacing]

Mandingo: I am the medicine man. The spade digging your grave. The spook who goes bump in your night. I am the uppity field-nigger dancing in your end zone, and spiking your IV. I am Little Black Sambo. I am Lincoln's mistake.

George Grieves: [flailing against his restraints, and gasping attempting to scream]

Mandingo: Oh, I just been fucking with you, my little bleached brother! But now, you gon' face your fear. You won't be afraid NO more. I'm gon' set you free. I'm doing you a favor - a 'solid', George. Now, ain't it better to know that all the fears that go 'pitter-patter' in your flaccid fish-white belly are real? That you ain't just another white liberal guilt-ridden mo'w'fucker worryin' 'bout shit he DON'T understand?

Mandingo: [whispering] The dark unknown's gon' cut you up! And when I'm done with you, you ain't gon' be a pussy NO MO!
