Moving funny real - a wonderful movie

For a movie about a piano teacher and a musical prodigy it's extremely moving funny and involving. What a gem this well written and tightly constructed Korean movie turned out to be. The story is possible and plays out naturally to a realistic and feel good ending - not fairy tale but just right. First off the piano teacher is a well drawn realistic character and she gets your sympathy. Then the prodigy's story also feels real as his talent is discovered and the nurtured. The actors are good and moving and look like they really can play the piano. Better than Madam Souzatska. The piano music is just right - not too much but enough to delight audiences and suitable for the story especially the grand finale with Rach 2.

    Predictable but nice film

Ji-su is the daughter of a middle class family who spent most of their money on her musical education. Unfortunately she didn't have the success she expected and now runs a little piano academy. One day a young problematic boy, Gyung-mi, appears in the academy and Ji-su discover he has a great natural talent for the music.

First of all, if the music (specially classic music) is not your thing, you better skip this movie.

Though the movie is quite predictable, it worths watching it, at least for the concert moments, which are very good. The movie has the typical korean genre mixes, here we have comedy (specially when the owner of the pizzeria appears in scene), drama (in the relation among Ji-su, Gyung-mi and his grandmother) and a bit of romance.

In conclusion, a inoffensive movie but will entertain you for almost two hours.

    A must watch

"For Horowitz" is an extraordinary movie. It has a simple story and blunt thrill-lovers may find it even predictable/boring, but anyone (most of us) who has passion for musical and romantic views of life will find it enchanting. In spite of having a rather common storyline and script the film manages to convey itself to heart. The background music and screenplays are brilliant. I think in a musical film like this not only the musics support the scenes but also the other way, and when you are to put the compositions of Gods like Beethoven,Mozart,Schubert into use, the "other way" becomes quite nontrivial. "For Horowitz" accomplishes this with extreme naturality. It is quite astonishing that this film is not popular enough. A must watch for all DREAMERS! ;)
