i saw this movie at outfest in LA and it definitely rose to the top in the shorts presentation. compact, but still effective, the feature quality short goes a long way to prove that you do not need 120 minutes or a multi-million dollar budget to craft an absorbing movie experience.
the storyline is thoughtful and intelligent and it's beautifully directed and shot.
and luckily the two lead actresses are not only gorgeous and easy to watch, but deliver solid performances full of depth and emotion too.
well worth the quick watch!

Cosa Bella is a real love story for our time. The story is completely thought out and brought to the screen in a manner that left me grateful for being permitted to enter the lives of these women. The characters (and the sexy actresses who play them) are ones that I would tune-in to watch on a regular basis on television, or pay to see their stories explored more fully in a feature length film. The film's writer/director has an amazing ability for bringing authenticity to the screen. Moreover, the high production value carries the film into the realm of the truly sublime. I highly recommend this film to anyone in search of a tale that tugs relentlessly at the heart strings.
I felt I had to write this review, simply because everyone who wrote one so far absolutely LOVED the movie. But why? I will say this, Cosa Bella really looks very good. It looks like a big Hollywood movie (and I mean that as a compliment for a change) and it has cool camera work and editing and music (Sia's "Breathe Me" is in there). And yet, the whole story looks like it was cut out of a feature film. It doesn't seem like a short film - it seems like a work in progress. Which is such a shame! If this were a feature film, one that lets you actually get close to the characters, take part in their development, and then still have the same scenes with the same great music and great camera work and dialog, it would probably be excellent. I would love it. I would feel with the characters, laugh with them, cry with them, root for them. But this way, the film is just a sad (albeit good-looking) reminder of what could've been.
Having said that, it certainly seems like Fiona MacKenzie is going to do great things in the future.

I don't know what's about this film, perhaps' the girls or the photography, the whole story, how it's filmed, but I just love it.
I can't stop watching it and every time I find something new to watch.
I LOVE short films, because I do believe you can tell a story in a few minutes, but this one takes that to the extreme.
And it's not just one thing -yes, the girls are awesome-, it's the whole thing.
It's been filmed in NY -or pretends to be there-. I don't know why, most of the American movies I like happens in NY.
I can just tell you one thing about this movie: If you haven't watched it yet, DO IT KNOW, you'll love it.

Wonderful short film. It should be developed into a feature or series. Fiona has put together a real heart tugging circle of characters. I want to see more. The actors, the camera work, the timing, the edit, the music all splendid. The cast never missed a beat. Such truthful performances. Perfect casting. Fiona's discovery should be further milked. The choices made every step of the way show signs of brilliant team work. The slick camera work never calls attention to itself. It is elegant. Lovely crisp imagery. Vivid. Every shot showed creativity and mastery over the art of directing. Signs of a truly talented film maker. Very impressed.
