An interesting look at 3 crossover bands from New Yoyk.

This straight-forward mix of live-footage and interviews of bands is rather fun and mostly unpretentious. Featured here are three levels of hardcore/crossover bands: 1) Agnostic Front: an A-level HC band. 2) Sick Of It All: a solid, nothing special, but very good live, HC band. And 3) Gorilla Biscuits: an F-level HC band. Not Z-level, but nothing worth anyone's time, and the only minus point in this modest little 58-minute offering. I've nothing against the interview segment with the guys from GB, but their music is mediocre at best.

By far the most amusing interview pairing were Jimmy Gestapo from Murphy's Law and Harley Flanagan from the Cro-Mags, the legendary "first NY skinhead". These two are in such a mood for a conversation that they keep interrupting each other, with Jimmy G. being the winner i.e. the more stubborn talker.

Which brings me to the obvious point. Why weren't the Cro-Mags and/or Murphy's Law featured? The Cro-Mags are a terrific band and one that was in the NY scene from day one. As for Murphy's Law, Jimmy G. seems to appear in just about every HC documentary there is, and yet his band is NEVER featured, which I find a curiosity.

If you want a more extensive movie about the HC/crossover scene in New York, I'd warmly recommend the excellent/flawless "N.Y.H.C.".
