Chingaso the Clown

In this short film adaptation of the underground comic by the same name, Chingaso the Clown, director Elias Matar brings the insane world created by Manny Elias to the screen in full clown color and noise.

Highlights of the short include the truly inspired performance of Bastard the Clown by actor David Hyatt. And the sexy as hell portrait of Long Prey by Roberta Orlandi. For any fan of the comic, the casting couldn't have been better.

Although short on dialog, Quinn Larson certainly looks the part in the lead role of Chingaso the Clown.

The director handles the action sequences well and the film looks amazing. Really like a comic come to life. A must see for fans of the genre.

Cotton candy and balloons twisted into the shapes of animals--i think not. In this world, the clowns are insane. Think The Sopranos meets the world the Joker would live in. The film is a fun and imaginative and creates an underworld of crime ruled by two rival gangs--the Mimes and the Clowns. Bizarre. Funny. And violent! Great performances by actors Roberta Orlandi as the dominatrix pain lusting, kill f@ck--Long Prey, the leader of the Mimes, and David Hyatt as the vile and despicable Bastard The Clown. Full of great gags that are funny but at the same time sinister, Bastard The Clown earns his name. The performance by Quinn Larson as Chingaso The Clown is acceptable and really brought to life the character of Chingaso that before this film was made, was nothing more than words and drawings in a comic book.

WARNING: Anyone suffering from "Coulrophobia" is STRONGLY cautioned against watching this film at all costs!! Coulrophobia is the fear of clowns and this film will not only bother those who hate clowns but might just create this fear in the viewers--it is that intense and violent.

OTHER WARNING: This film should never be seen by kids. Although it is pretty cool, the film is amazingly violent for a short film plus the language is intense, to say the least! I must point out that I am not a particular fan of violent films and the intensity of this in CHINGASO THE CLOWN was great. However, at the same time, this short film had an intensity and cinematic quality about it that was simply amazing and I really wish I could see it on the big screen. Additionally, the music is intense and had my speakers pounding. It simply was top-notch all the way.

I assume this short is meant as a "pitch film". In other words, the very talented director hopes it will spur on Hollywood big-wigs to contribute funding to the project which would seem to be a full-length version of CHINGASO. At is was, the film is more of a teaser than a short film. An AMAZING and HEART-POUNDING teaser, at that!!
