I saw this at the Tribeca festival, and then again on television. Some short films just shouldn't be made. Suffered from poor acting, poor production design, poor script, AND it was absolutely boring. At one point, I could predict what was going to happen next (the woman wipes off her lipstick in a fit of shame/anger), and the dialogue was ridiculous. This little movie honestly did not have one redeeming feature- it wasn't shot badly, I'll give it that much, but it wasn't shot particularly well either. I'm sad that this took up space at a prestigious festival and in a television showcase instead of some other short, but I guess they have to allow some stinkers through sometimes.
Spanish Boots is a wonderful movie that I recently saw it again at the Albuquerque Film Festival and was reminded of how much I liked it when I saw it at the Santa Fe Film Festival.
The movie reminds me of wonderful poetry. You leave the theater and it stays with you. It plays on many emotional levels and the writer clearly understands characters. I really enjoyed the female lead and how she subtly played a difficult role for a woman.
The director did a brilliant job executing the film.
Every detail is seen in each frame. I absolutely loved it.
Also, the cinematography is beautiful and the art direction is wonderful.
