    Philosophy in Every Day Life

Food for Thought is a student piece that's a lot deeper than most. It follows a young man named Robert as he tackles with philosophical issues that could seem way beyond what his life as a stock boy encompasses. However, the writer/director(Ford R Corl) manages to prove that even the lowest of professions can apply the deepest of questions. When Robert (Nathaniel Lamadrid) finds himself in a rut, working as stock boy in a grocery store, too shy to stand out and speak up to the girl he has feelings for, he decides to do something about it, something drastic. With the help of his friend Malcolm, and some of the greatest philosophical minds ever known, he finds that he can change the world, or at least HIS world, with a little bit of courage and a single act of defiance. This student short manages to be cleaver, deep, and subtle all in 16 minutes. The acting was great, the directing was near perfect, and the digital effects had a simplistic charm to them that I really liked. I would recommend this film if you are ever lucky enough to catch it. Unsung Hero

This film is a hidden gem. Although a student piece, its cinematography is uncompromising and its attention to detail is superb. A story behind the story unfolds, and deeper meaning is brought with each successive viewing. The characters are uniquely placed in a grocery store similar to those mass market chains seen across the United States. Disgruntled and just trying to get by, Robert (Nathan Lamadrid), goes thru successive scenes and phases, each corresponding to a new existential dilemma. The antagonist Will (Kevin Lucero Less) is astonishingly evil whilst maintaining an "I'm only trying to get ahead" attitude, and the love interest (Sarah Klein) is barely noticeable, much like Robert. Malcolm (Kevin Lucero Less) adds flare to an otherwise somber film. All in all "Food For Thought" is an excellent study in low-budget high-end film-making.
