Oedipus, Robert Icke’s West End hit reimagining of the Sophocles tragedy starring Mark Strong and Lesley Manville, will transfer to Broadway this fall for a 14-week engagement as part of the Roundabout Theatre Company’s 2025-2026 season.
Produced by Sonia Friedman Productions, Sue Wagner, John Johnson, and Patrick Catullo, in association with the Roundabout, Oedipus will kick off the Roundabout’s upcoming season with performances beginning in November at the theater company’s Studio 54 Broadway venue.
Reprising their roles from the sold-out London staging, Strong plays Oedipus and Manville portrays Jacosta. Strong was last seen on Broadway in the 2015 Tony Award-winning A View From the Bridge (for which he earned a Tony nomination), and Manville, an Oscar nominee for her performance in 2017’s Phantom Thread, will be making her Broadway debut.
The official synopsis: “It’s Oedipus’s Election night. The polls predict a landslide victory. Everything is about to change.

Dancing With The Stars Season 33’s Halloween Night just wrapped up! After a night of fun, spooky routines, there are six couples left in the competition.
Everyone performed remarkably and worked hard to earn top scores and fans’ votes. But for one couple, it was time to leave the ballroom.
Who’s moving on to the next episode and who is out?
DWTS Was Filled With Top Scorers On Halloween Night
When the night began, many felt certain that NBA star Dwight Howard and his partner Daniella Karagach would go home. They’d been at the bottom of the leaderboard for a while now and the season is coming down to the wire.

Spoiler Alert: This story contains spoilers from the Oct. 29 episode of “Dancing With the Stars.”
For Halloween, the celebrities on “Dancing With the Stars” took on their nightmares, each performing a routine inspired by their biggest fears — from snakes, the boogeyman and killers, to dolls, the dark and vampires. And their biggest fear may have been elimination because everyone brought their A-games.
Daniella Karagach told partner Dwight Howard that he’d yet to complete a full routine without errors — so he did just that for their very creepy contemporary to “Ring Around the Rosie.” After their impressive routine, both competitors were in tears, explaining that they had overcome a tough week. It paid off — they received the first 10 of the season, and it came from Carrie Ann Inaba.
That was only the first 10 of the night, with Carrie Ann also giving the top score to Danny Amendola and Witney Carson...

Bit Bot Media and FreakZone Games teamed up for a video game adaptation of Richard O’Brien’s cult classic musical Rocky Horror Show. Now available on Steam and Nintendo, the sidescrolling 8-bit game, features chiptune renditions of the songs we all know and love, including Time Warp!, and I caught up with Bit Bot's Joshua Viola to learn more about the making of the game:
It's hard to believe it's been 50 years since the start of Rocky Horror Show. What was your first experience with the show and why does it mean so much to you?
Joshua Viola: I live in Denver, and just outside the city, we have one of the most incredible amphitheater venues in the world—Red Rocks. If you're not familiar with it, seriously, stop what you're doing and Google it. It’s breathtaking; nestled between towering red stone cliffs, right in the middle of nature.

The 1973 musical “The Rocky Horror Show,” immortalized in the 1975 film “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” is getting a side-scrolling video game adaptation. “The Rocky Horror Show Video Game” is set for release next month across major consoles and Steam for computer platforms, timed to the Halloween spooky season.
Befitting the musical nature of “Rocky Horror,” the project even includes chiptune versions of songs from the films — including, but of course, the “Time Warp.” The game features 8-bit-styled graphics bringing the show’s sets and characters to life, combining ’80s nostalgia with the show’s ’70s retro vibes in the release from FreakZone Games and Metal X Entertainment/Bit Bot Media.
“‘The Rocky Horror Show’ is a unique experience that transcends traditional entertainment, and we wanted to bring that magic to gamers — whether they’re already fans of the IP or discovering it for the first time,” producer Joshua Viola said in a Thursday statement.

Jack Black and Kyle Gass took over the Kung Fu Panda 4 premiere to film an impromptu music video for Tenacious D’s cover of — wait for it — Britney Spears’ classic, “…Baby One More Time.”
In the clip, Black and Gass strut around the red carpet, doing dance moves and jump-kicking while belting along to the D’s hard rock take on the 1998 pop smash. Black also ropes in a bunch of his Kung Fu Panda 4 castmates, dancing with Awkwafina, karate-chopping Bryan Cranston, and taking a punch from Ke Huy Quan.

In the glitzy world of film, where box office revenue is the equivalent of high school popularity, some masterpieces are the proverbial “late bloomers.” They’re the ones who get their braces off after graduation and become prom kings and queens ….at the reunion, twenty years later. These horror gems, initially overshadowed by the cruel jests of critics or the cold shoulder from box office numbers, have risen like zombies from their graves to claim their rightful place in the pantheon of cult classics.
Let’s uncover these once-buried treasures of horror cinema!

The humble Spectrum was home to some remarkable games - including these underappreciated masterpieces...
I, like many, spend many years playing Spectrum games. I defended the computer in the school playground, I kept playing with the machine long after everyone had migrated to likes of the Atari St and Commodore Amiga, and I spent an unsavoury amount of my meagre pocket money building up my games collection.
However, a lot of lookbacks at the Spectrum era tend to focus on the big highlights. What I wanted to do here is put together a personal listing of 50 titles that don't seem to get that much attention.
So, if you're wondering why Gollop brothers games, anything by the late, great Mike Singleton, the acclaimed works of Ultimate, the likes of Exolon, Head Over Heels, Advanced Lawnmower Simulator, Match Day, Batty, Wizball, Firefly, Nebulus, Fairlight, The Sentinel,...

The Tumblr round-up is a compilation of images, links, posters, stories, videos and so on, taken from the Sound On Sight Tumblr account. We simply do not have the man power nor time to write articles on every interesting movie related goody we find, so this is our way of still promoting some of the stuff we love.
If you have any interesting items that you think we should plug, please email us at admin@soundonsight.org

I want to try not to repeat myself. But then I seem to do it continuously in my films. It`s not something I make any effort to do. I just want to make films that are personal, but interesting to an audience. I feel I get criticized for style over substance, and for details that get in the way of the characters. But every decision I make is how to bring those characters forward.

The peerless inventiveness of the hive mind has at last hit on a sequel to planking
You know how it is. You had a few drinks last night. You can't quite remember how the evening ended. Now you're worried you, or someone you love, may have been Batmanning. Open your eyes. What do you see? It it the bottom of your bedroom door, upside down? Yes? Oh dear. You have been Batmanning. But don't panic: it's what all the groovy young kids are doing these days.
The peerless inventiveness of the hivemind has at last hit on a sequel to planking, the health-and-safety-bothering trend where people posted photographs of themselves lying flat out in a dangerous or improbable public place.
Horizontality is so last year. Now the thing to do is to suspend yourself upside down with your toes hooked over the edge of a door, wall or piece of piping.
