Weird, no budget TV sci fi

TIME WARP is a forgotten (deservedly so, some might say) science fiction movie, made for TV and starring BATMAN's Adam West in a supporting role. It's a weird little flick, full of cheesy, cardboard effects and a meandering storyline involving an astronaut who, due to an anomaly in space, is transported back to Earth via time warp which means that nobody can see him because he's living a year in the future. Unbelievably, this was written by one 'Anne Spielberg' - sister to Steven, of course.

It's a neat idea, but the very poor, bargain-level execution helps to sink it. Imagine it as the thinking man's BUCK ROGERS IN THE 25TH CENTURY, with added 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY thrown in (the guy has a friendly computer, HAL 9000 style, who helps him on his mission). There's no action here and much of the screen time just consists of a bored astronaut sitting around and waiting for stuff to happen. The invisible-to-family scenes are really weird and don't achieve much, although I guess the film does summon up an atmosphere of longing and nostalgia. The acting is generally wooden, with the exception being West's weird and not entirely successfully acting style.

Weak Comedy and Weak Plot!

Started off with the worst Sci-fi effects I have seen from Hollywood.

Plot line is Pee Wee Herman would be character as an astronaut who is as funny as treading in dog excrement.

Adam West playing a cartoon baddie guy who causes the mayhem in which the unfunny poor astronaut finds out through meteor shower mishap he lands back on earth a year later where nobody can see him which is never explained in the movie.

The other characters are just so unfunny like the priest and the seance woman who give very little to the comedy proceedings.

The little boy is the funniest thing character in the movie.

Overall it's a real dud of a movie and I gather Steven Spielberg sister had written this garbage so I am surprised she never ran the script past her brother who would have said look Sis this script is gonna be my next toilet paper sheets.

Embarrassing movie and the parrot scene is the worst scene I have had to watch in a very long time.

1/10 Give this turd fest a miss and 1981 wasn't a year for good TV comedy movies.

Adam.

It's a spoof!

Low scores from who viewed this as a serious attempt at making a Sci-Fi film but it's clearly a spoof with deliberately very bad exterior shots of the spaceship in flight with it veering from side to side all over the place.

Many instances of low quality stock NASA footage being used also intentionally of poor quality and well past its use by date.

Adam West was a great choice and he hams it up gloriously mutch in the same way he did as Batman.

Watched as being serious Sci-Fi film it's a one star but as a spoof it's a well deserved ten stars.

Watch it and enjoy the intentional terribleness of it.
