The Inspector irritated me, until I bought into the Pink Panther / Insp. Jacques Clouseau homage (http://www.imdb.com/find?s=all&q=Pink+Panther&x=23&y=7) and "Silence of the Lambs" / Hannibal Lecter thing, then I just rode the wave of good humour and rollicking fun.
This movie was always meant to be taken lightly rather than literally or (worse) earnestly.
It must be said that for a 'Taxi' film this is somewhat lacking in the series' trademark high-speed action; thankfully it is still hilarious... of course humour is subjective but I enjoyed it so much I laughed till it was hard to read the subtitles! The humour was delightfully silly; a police chief shooting himself with a tranquiliser; a criminal in a leather gimp suit and a protagonist fails to recognise his wife just because she was wearing a wig. The cast does a solid job with most of the regulars returning, although Marion Cotillard is no longer present. Overall I'd recommend this to fans of madcap comedy; just don't expect the high speed hijinks of the previous films.
These comments are based on watching the series in French with English subtitles.
Again there will be many things that will challenge your brain, but this wasn't any different in the previous movies. What is different, are the car chases (there are fewer shown here). But then again, how many car chases must there be? I think there are enough car chases to be found here. The silly story is good enough and most of all, I felt the same flair as I did, with the original two Taxi movies. And I think it's a good thing, that one character that was present throughout the first three movies, is absent in this one (I guess it was due to the fact, there was no agreement with that person, but it still is better for the movie, because there is more time for other things).

- TriviaDaniel's Taxi is a Peugeot 407, replacing the Phase 1 and Phase 2 Peugeot 406 models used in the first three films. It's likely to be the 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine, though unusually the highest performance model in the range was a diesel. Most of the Marseilles police fleet in the film is also made up of Peugeots, mostly the 206 and 307, while Commissaire Gibert's car is a 607.
- GoofsCommissaire Gibert fires an LMC-X10 rocket launcher originally with 9 rockets. He only fires five rockets (the first through the window, the second hitting the safe, the third hitting the statue in front of the pool, and the fourth and fifth were fired in air and swirled to hit the second floor supports) but when he is done the rocket launcher is shown with three rockets remaining instead of four.

Daniel Morales: Émilien, if you're so intelligent, tell me.
Émilien Coutant-Kerbalec: What ?
Daniel Morales: This dude just entered his food truck with a tuxedo, and moreover, with a fast-food drive-in bag. Why would he do that ?
Émilien Coutant-Kerbalec: Dunno, maybe their fries are better than his.
Daniel Morales: [sigh] ... You always have an answer for everything, don't ya ?
Émilien Coutant-Kerbalec: Yup, that's why i'm in the Police !
