The Walt Disney Co. makes an annual tradition out of synergy across its divisions to promote awareness and tune-in for the Oscars on ABC — and this year, for this Sunday’s 97th edition, that also includes a live stream for the first time on Hulu. To that end, Disney is spotlighting the Oscars on Hulu’s homepage, while Hulu is also featuring current and past Oscar-nominated films on its homepage, Hulu Movies hub and an Oscars hub.

Other partnerships this year inside heavy promotion during ESPN’s coverage of the NBA on ABC earlier in the day, as a lead-in to Oscar night, and the return of ESPN’s Oscars Pick ‘Em game. The company has also added new Oscars photo opps at the Disney parks and, as usual, has Academy Awards-themed program marathons on Disney-owned networks including FX, Freeform and Nat Geo.

After years of friendship and appearing in films together, Bradley Cooper and Will Arnett are finally teaming up for a comedy. The movie is called Is This Thing On?, and it’s a collaboration that’s been in the works for a while.

The film was first announced in 2023, but production was delayed due to the Writer’s Guild of America strike. Now that things are back on track, filming has started in New York City.

While details about the movie are still mostly under wraps, there’s enough out there to get us excited. What are these two fun-loving actors bringing to the screen this time? Let’s dive into all the details!

The actors and longtime friends bundled up while filming Is This Thing On? in New York City on Friday (January 10).

Along with starring in the movie, Bradley, 50, is also directing while Will, 54, co-wrote the script Mark Chappell. As of right now, plot details are being kept under wraps.

Is This Thing On? was previously announced back in 2023, but was production was put on hold due to the writer’s strike.

If you didn’t know, Bradley and Will have worked together in the past on 2007′s The Comebacks and 2008′s The Rocker. More recently, Bradley opened up about a heavy topic while on Will‘s podcast.

Carl Weathers, who starred as Apollo Creed in the first four “Rocky” films opposite Sylvester Stallone, died Thursday, his manager Matt Luber confirmed to Variety. He was 76.

Weathers also starred in 1987’s “Predator” and had a memorable role in Adam Sandler’s “Happy Gilmore.” He was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his work in the “Star Wars” series “The Mandalorian.”

He voiced Combat Carl in “Toy Story 4” and played a fictionalized version of himself in a recurring role on “Arrested Development.” His other credits include the TV series “Street Justice,” “Colony,” “The Shield,” “Chicago Justice” and “Brothers,” and the films “Close Encounters of the Third Kind,” “Death Hunt” and “The Comebacks.”

After working with Sandler on the 1996 golf comedy “Happy Gilmore,” Weathers briefly reprised his role in “Little Nicky” and voiced a character in Sandler’s animated Hanukkah comedy “Eight Crazy Nights.

It’s a new month, and Hulu subscribers are getting a slew of new movies and TV shows to enjoy.

June 1 is jam-packed with more than 30 titles that have landed on the streamer, including the seventh and final season of Ava DuVernay’s “Queen Sugar,” the Jack Nicholson-led film “Hoffa,” Sacha Baron Cohen’s “Borat” and the entire “Twilight” franchise.

Mixing in a little of the old with new come goodies from 2023, like “Flamin’ Hot,” which tells the story of Mexican migrant Richard Montanez who came up with the idea for Flamin’ Hot Cheetos while working as a janitor at Frito Lay. The film lands on Hulu June 9.

Ending June with a bang will the be second season of “The Bear,” (June 22), Season 20 of “The Bachelorette” (June 27) and the sixth and final season of “Grown-ish.”

Amid strong ratings, ABC has ordered a second season of the Topher Grace-fronted comedy series Home Economics, from Lionsgate and ABC Signature.

Inspired by the real-life experiences from writer and executive producer Michael Colton, the show, developed by Colton and John Aboud, documents the uncomfortable yet heartwarming relationships of three siblings in very different situations: one in the ultra-rich, one in the middle class and one scraping by.

Caitlin McGee, Jimmy Tatro, Karla Souza, and Sasheer Zamata, Shiloh Bearman, Jordyn Curet, Chloe Jo Rountree and JeCobi Swain also star.

In its April premiere, Home Economics delivered the best lead-in retention in adults 18-49 (100%) of any new comedy debut on any network so far this season, according to the network and Nielsen Live+3, and marked the only new comedy to build over its lead-in in total viewers (+3%).

This marks the network’s first comedy pilot handed a series order in an unusual year for broadcast network development. ABC’s previous comedy orders – Call Your Mother and Rebel – went straight-to-series.

The single-camera comedy, which is inspired by the life of writer and executive producer Colton (Penguins of Madagascar), will air in spring 2021. It is produced by Lionsgate and ABC Signature.

ABC has given a pilot order to Home Economics, a single-camera family comedy from writers Michael Colton and John Aboud (Penguins Of Madagascar), Lionsgate TV and Eric and Kim Tannenbaum’s studio-based Tannenbaum Company.

Written by Colton and Aboud, Home Economics is about three adult siblings: one in the 1 percent, one middle-class, and one barely holding on.

The project, inspired by Colton’s family, was originally set up at Fox last development season with a script commitment plus penalty. ABC bought the comedy on spec, with ABC Studios coming on board to co-produce alongside Lionsgate. (Fox Entertainment likely retains a small piece.) Colton and Aboud executive produce with Kim and Eric Tannenbaum of The Tannenbaum Company, whose Jason Wang is co-executive producer. Lionsgate Television’s Maxfield Elins will oversee the series on behalf of the studio.

At ABC, Home Economics joins single-camera comedy pilots Work Wife and Prospect and multi-camera My Village.

Exclusive: Saturday Night Live alum Finesse Mitchell is set as a series regular opposite Jason Biggs, Maggie Lawson and Tisha Campbell in Fox’s new multi-cam family comedy Outmatched.

Written and executive produced by La to Vegas creator Lon Zimmet, Outmatched is about a blue-collar couple, Mike and Cay, played by Biggs and Lawson, in South Jersey trying to get by and raise four kids, three of whom just happen to be certified geniuses.

CBS is in development with “UNprofessionals,” a new single-camera comedy series about the United Nations from Seth Rogen and Lionsgate Television, TheWrap has learned.

The show offers a behind the scenes look at a group of the least important people working at one of the world’s most important places: The United Nations.

Andy Schwartz (“Scrubs”), and the Sklar Brothers (Randy and Jason Sklar) will write and Jay Chandrasekhar will direct. Chandrasekhar, Schwartz, and the Sklars will executive produce, with Rogen, Goldberg, Weaver and Alex McAtee for Point Grey Pictures. The project was developed alongside Point Grey’s vice president and head of television Loreli Alanis.

Saturday Night Live alum Finesse Mitchell is set as a series regular opposite Eden Sher in the Sue Heck spinoff, a half-hour single-camera comedy that received a pilot production commitment at ABC, Deadline has confirmed. The p[roject hails from The Middle creators/executive producers Eileen Heisler and DeAnn Heline and studio Warner Bros. TV.

Written by Heisler and Heline, the Untitled Sue Heck Spinoff follows the twentysomething adventures of eternal optimist Sue Heck (Sher) as she leaves the small town of Orson to navigate the ups and downs of a career and young adulthood in the big city of Chicago, where she takes a new job at a hotel.

Mitchell will play Hudson, a bartender with a big heart who works at the hotel. He joins fellow series regulars Brock Ciarlelli and Kimberley Crossman.

Heisler and Heline executive produce vie Blackie and Blondie Productions, which produces in association with Warner Bros. TV.

Saturday Night Live alum Finesse Mitchell will take the stage in his first stand-up special Finesse Mitchell: The Spirit Told Me To Tell You, premiering Friday, October 19 at 10 Pm Et/Pt on Showtime.

It may not have been the immediate record-smashing success that Warner Bros. would have wanted, but “Edge of Tomorrow” is hardly the bomb many prognosticators tipped it to be with just inches separating the film from crossing $300 million worldwide mark. THR reports the “Swingers” director has entered discussions with Warner Bros. to mount a remake of the 1981 John Huston-helmed soccer/WWII film “Victory.” The original film starred Max Von Sydow, Sylvester Stallone, Michael Caine and Pelé and centers on allied prisoners of war interned in a German Pow camp who are forced to play a soccer match against a professional German team, all the while plotting their post-match escape. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, John Behlmann, Melissa Errico and Will Swenson will star in Bull Durham, the new musical based on the beloved 1988 film, which Sports Illustrated proclaimed the '1 Greatest Sports Movie of All-time.' Bull Durham will premiere at the Alliance Theatre on September 3, and will run until October 5. Swenson, who will play 'Crash Davis', will appear in the new musical while on hiatus from the Broadway revival of Les Miserables, where he currently stars as Javert. Swenson will be gone July 22- October 5. A replacement has not yet been announced.

Sports movie Snake & Mongoo$e looks at drag racing in the 1960s and 1970s.

Jesse Williams (The Cabin in the Woods) stars as Don “The Snake” Prudhomme, and Richard Blake (I <3 Vampires) is his on-the-track nemesis Tom “The Mongoose” McEwen.

The independent film follows the racers’ rivalry from the early days of speedways through the peak of their popularity, including legendary races and the Hot Wheels partnership that created a global phenomenon.

Featuring a soundtrack that includes Zz Top, Snake & Mongoose also star Kim Shaw (She’s Out of My League), Ian Ziering (McKenna Shoots for the Stars), Tim Blake Nelson (Big Miracle) and Noah Wyle (TV’s Falling Skies).

Part Days of Thunder, part Rush, the PG-13 movie is the first to be screened at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction and was shown in a handful of theaters.

Hoosiers is not just a beloved film, but it has consistently been named one of the best sports movies of all time! In that spirit, here we will highlight our picks for the five best sports films and what makes them uniquely memorable. Our favorites include A League of Their Own, Remember the Titans and Field of Dreams.

Spoof movies have never been particularly well regarded. When they’re good, like the original 1980 “Airplane,” they deftly satirize many tropes of your favorite films while also creating laughs derived from their own comedic situations. When they’re bad, they’re most likely directed by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, the title ends with the word “Movie,” and they spend most their time recreating your favorite scenes from films in an exacting manner infused with Carmen Electra and potty humor. The “Scary Movie” films have always fallen somewhere between the highs and lows of that spectrum, with the franchise's early releases hitting at a time when the horror market was ripe with films containing casts that consisted mostly of The WB alumni, with titles like “Scream” and “I Know What You Did Last Summer” reaching the point of franchise exhaustion. Dimension Films had the fifth installment in the Scary Movie franchise slated to open this month until someone realized that the film didn’t exist yet, so they pushed it back to January 2013. Now it appears Scary Movie 5 has a director and a production start-date. EW reports that Malcolm Lee (Roll Bounce, Undercover Brother) will handle directing duties on Scary Movie 5. David Zucker, who took over from the Wayans brothers and wrote and directed Scary Movie 3 and 4, will return to co-write and produce the fifth installment alongside Lee. Production is set to begin this summer and casting is already underway. We previously reported that The Comebacks writers John Aboud and Michael Colton as well as Stephen Leff would be penning the screenplay, but it’s possible that Dimension has decided to start over entirely.
