    so-so

Well, I have mixed feelings about this show. The production values are obviously as low budget as it comes, but then what else can you expect from a show that is done on an extremely low budget. The acting is also not up to par. The lady that plays the character Lori is quite possibly the least talented actress I have ever seen. Now, as for the show's writing, I thought it was pretty descent. It is not one of the funniest shows I have ever seen, but it does make me laugh. Not all the jokes are funny, but there are enough funny jokes that the show held my interest, and I think the story line flows pretty smoothly. Also, the writers do an excellent job mixing in Christian values with the comedy. So, this show deserves kudos on that front. Overall, I think this is an okay show. It's no "Andy Griffith Show", but it is a lot better than some of the other junk that's on t.v.

Please note, that I am rating this as a viewer AND a Pastor

Pastor Greg, quite simply, is as awful as a show can get. The acting is horrendous and the production is worse. It looks like it is filmed with a camcorder. I am not trying to be mean. As a pastor, I was hoping upon my first viewing that this might be a good show. It was anything but. Pastor Greg is portrayed as somewhat of a buffoon, but not really in a likable way, ala a Tim Taylor of Home Improvement. I fully support Christians taking active part in media and movies. But please, at least do it well. Pastor Greg gives non-Christians yet another reason to ridicule Christians. This time, the ridicule is well deserved. If Christians are going to be involved in TV and film, they must do it at least as well as non-believers if they expect to be taken seriously.

    Underdog show trying hard

I am a Christian, too, and I think if this show is taken for what it is, a goofy non-serious slapstick sitcom, it can be entertaining. Is it great? No, but it is not awful. I remember the first season of "Home Improvement" and "Seinfeld" and neither was particularly funny. It took awhile for the characters and writers to find their stride, but they did. This show will too, as I think the writing has improved immeasurably by the end of Season 1 and I expect it will be much better in Season 2. Give this show a chance, if for no other reason than how many Christian sitcoms are there out there to compare it to? I read somewhere that the lady who played Mary Ann on Gilligan's Island, Dawn Wells, has joined the cast. I think adding a wonderful character actress like her is a great catch for a smaller budgeted series, and her presence will no doubt have an impact on all the talent on the show. Her experience alone in sitcoms will have a rising tide effect. Again, give this show a chance - it may be your last one to see a true Christian sitcom. (BTW, I do NOT work on this show or know anyone on the show. It is just an opinion.)

    "Pastor Greg" Is Living Proof

"Pastor Greg" reaffirms the old Hollywood adage, "Dying is easy; comedy is hard." I give Greg Robbins and his colleagues high marks for their sincere efforts to try something very unusual--create a sitcom that will spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to viewers. Unfortunately, after having viewed the series' first two episodes, I think the show fails to bring the funny.

Its main appeal to me is that many of the cast of characters include God as a central part of their lives, and very few shows since "Little House on the Prairie" have done so. Still, if I want to watch a modern and entertaining show with Christian themes, I'll stick with "Veggie Tales."

Proof Comedy Can Still Be Done Clean

I've watch all episodes of Season 1 and have to say "Pastor Greg" is one of the most unique sitcoms out there. It kind of has that "Carol Burnett Show" filming and set feel to it, but instead of this being for a skit show, it is shot like this for the whole show. After reading up on "Pastor Greg," I discovered that this sitcom was shot for about $20,000 per episode. What you get for that low amount of production budget is amazing. The show doesn't rely on sex for humor as the modern sitcoms do, but instead, in the humor your mother grew up on: physical, slapstick, misunderstanding, silly, goofy, etc . . . The type of humor of The Dick Van Dyke Show with the moral values and lessons of The Andy Griffith Show. I'm glad to read that Dawn Wells of "Gilligan's Island" fame has joined the cast for Season 2. She's from a time where comedy was clean and funny and "Pastor Greg" is bringing that back. This show breaks from the norm of the traditional sitcom format by incorporating a lot of behind the scenes and/or blooper footage at the end of the show, which are always funny. Watch more than one episode and read up one the show and you will be hooked like I am.
