Schoolday Love

Having just watched them in A Nick-of-Time Hero, pre-teens Coy Watson Jr. And Doreen Turner are once again at school where they watch monkeys playing baseball. They then go to a cabin where he plays an Indian and she a trapper's wife. Something unfortunate happens there but all's well that end's well for nearly everyone involved...Once again I enjoyed watching Coy and Doreen having fun as well as seeing the various animals playing games and doing their rescues. I may watch and review some other film appearances of Coy Watson Jr. Down the line. He seems to be one of the unsung pioneers of the early film industry since I just discovered his early appearances as a kid. So on that note, I say give Schoolday Love a look. It's on YouTube.

It's all tightly directed in a way that the loose-jointed and charming Our Gang comedies at the Roach studio avoided. As a result, while it might be fun to watch monkeys playing baseball, it seems too precious to be of much more than average fun.
