I saw this program at the Boulder Adventure Film Festival recently and, man, I loved it. It's a documentary about a couple kids trying to climb Yosemite Valley's El Capitan -- with the help of several grown-ups and plenty of ropes and safety gear, of course.
Rock climbing is a great sport but no one seems interested in investigating the heart and soul of it. (No offense to Sly Stallone or Clint Eastwood.) It's about time someone told an exciting, human story like this.
Purely from an aesthetic POV, it's a fun movie to watch. Stylish without being to OTT. A great movie for kids to see what they can accomplish if they just try.
I hope it ends up on the Discovery Channel or at my local video shop!

Old meets new...on the walls of El Cap. Not only a great film for the climbing enthusiast but a ring-a-ding-dinger for the family. Who would have thought the rough and fuzzy world of climbing could be made so kid-friendly? Perhaps it was inevitable with the popularity of the sport in the last decade spreading to "Soccer Mom" status, but at any rate, Edwards does a brilliant job bringing together the best of both worlds without losing the realness of the humbling big wall known as "the Captain".
Along with Ben Moon and Jerry Moffitt, soon your kids will saying, "Ma, it's time to climb." Git on it!
