The Pedestrian

This is a fun indie short film with some great production values. Shot on film, professional grade stunts, terrific production design and photography, and a real quality blues and rock soundtrack. All indie movies should look and sound this good. Scott Tosta gives an adequate performance as Gubston Rundlecake, the hapless off-duty salesman with a string of bad luck. Watch for his double-duty performance as a secondary character, too (actually his stronger performance). Brian Sharp is excellent as the mysterious and creepy Pedestrian, well underplayed and moody. Although the film seems to struggle a little to find its rudder, along the way it gives you genuine humor, action, and more than a little weirdness. Well worth checking out. It runs on public television independent film shows from time to time. Watch for it.

The Story is a little slow getting started, but it's a wild ride after that. The pedestrian is basically a murder mystery with a few twists and laughs. Great camera work and wonderful stunts! Scott Tosta (who also appeared in Shattered Dreams with Erik Estrada) is delightfully goofy as a bungling, paranoid Gubston Rundlecake. (what a name!) Brian Sharp is appropriately cast as the ominous and mysterious Pedestrian. He also reprises his roll from Dancing on coals as a Bum at the end of the film. The Pedestrian also has a great sound track, surprising for a low budget independent short. This is a little gem that got passed up by the film festivals because of it's length and pace. Thankfully The folks at KTEH, (PBS) saw it's charm and continue to air it from time to time. Check it out for yourself. It's a fun watch with a few surprises.
