Tell Me Do You Miss Me

While one cannot help but appreciate the challenge and effort that went into making this film, it showed up on screen as a striking bore.

It seemed almost a Christopher Guest inspired parody of a lost Gen-X band having its farewell tour.

I have been a fan of Luna since the early 1990's (and Galaxie 500 prior). I enjoyed the concert footage very much and wished that the film-makers would have stuck to more of that.

Again, I appreciate the effort, but an easy 23 minutes could have been shaved off the interviews and insipid anecdotes.

One can only hope that the DVD release will contain footage from concerts that shows the entire song being played, rather then cutting away to another amplifier being wheeled up a ramp.

I'm a big Luna fan. I'm glad an effort was made to document the band as they road off into the musical sunset. There are some nice on-the-road moments here and there, but structurally I would have preferred more concert footage broken up by an occasional sound bite. Overall the band is pretty taciturn and generally doesn't offer up more than the touring can be a grind type insight. I thought the scene where the band is sitting silently in the dressing room letting their emotions sink in after their final gig was good. And I got a good laugh out of the bit where Dean and Sean read the not so favorable review of the band while riding in the van. Musically, I loved Sean's lead on "Fuzzy Wuzzy" (my favorite Luna song) and their rendering of Fred Neil's "Everybody's Talking'" which seemed to capture the melancholy vibe of a great band calling it a day.
