Dr Loveless begins his reign of terror in color

In "The Night of the Raven" West and Gordon must rescue an Indian princess in a small window of time to avert a massacre.

This is a Doctor Loveless episode and by now we've come to expect something special from them. And from here on they would only get better.

We also know West isn't going to arrest Loveless and the good doctor won't destroy West. But they play well together. I wonder if Robert Conrad enjoyed these episodes to have a baddie shorter than he.

Conrad really gets to show off his athletic prowess. And he fights on some stairs but only two-to-one, so it's a foregone conclusion. Or is it? West usually doesn't think a fight is fair unless it's against four.

The princess could have been prettier. Princesses should be. This show had a way of digging out the lovely females (under five feet five) and I could throw out a few names I'd rather have seen, beginning with Susan Silo. Back then they didn't constrain actors to little boxes they couldn't play out of.

Meanwhile, Loveless is up to his wacky experiments. I won't spoil his sinister plan, but it's delicious as ever. In fact. It's hilarious. And this time it might just work.

    Fantasy West

The show was pure fantasy at this point. West even says "that little man can do anything", referring of course to Miguelito Loveless, the best of the WWW villains (and the one who had the most appearances). Michael Dunn was such a fine actor.

    Great episode, one more.

This time, W W WEST show gives a tribute to another great movie: INCREDIBLE SHRINKING MAN. Later it will do the same for many other horror or sci-fi schemes: Zombies, Flying Saucers, Haunted Houses, Frankenstein, ONLY Vampires will never been tributes too. Nor we will never have the likes of Georges Sanders nor Vincent Price as heavies guests. They would have been so great bad guys for Jim West fight against. So shame. And Bela Lugosi was dead before the show even begins. so back to this episode, yes, this is among the best of the whole. I repeat, there are so many.
