The SGC receives a signal in slow motion from SG-10, and General Hammond sends a probe to the planet. Soon the SGC discovers that the SG-10 is under the effect of a black hole and unsuccessfully tries to disengage the Stargate. Further, they discover that the black hole is affecting the SGC through the wormhole. When Colonel Cromwell and his team arrive at the SGC, they learn that time is passing slowly near the Stargate. General Hammond is summoned by the President and receives order to blow- up the SGC. However Sam is convinced that the destruction of the SGC will be ineffective and tries to find another solution. Will she succeed?
"A Matter of Time" is among the best episodes of Stargate SG-1. It is very funny to see Sam trying to explain to Jack what a wormhole is. The apparently hopeless situation is well-resolved in the end. My vote is eight.

Decent episode in terms of a unique storyline and positively mind bending concepts. Carter once again saves the day, she puts in the OT. The ending was a bit too dramatic and the new character not developed enough to elicit care.
I have to say, I was really impressed with the filming of the SG team attempting to escape the black hole at the beginning. It was a really good way to show the time dilation black holes produce, and it was also a heck of a way to build suspense. This episode still scares me (I watched it for the 1st time when I was ten and terrified of black holes), but I have to hand it to them on the portrayal of the science.

- TriviaThe prop used for the "shaped charge explosive" used to divert the wormhole and disconnect from the blackhole is actually a high fidelity woofer speaker.
- GoofsIf a star just turned into a black hole, then it would have just about the same mass and effective gravity as it did moments before. Just because the star turned from emitting light to appearing dark does not mean that time suddenly slowed to a near stop. The remote planet would be well clear of the event horizon, so the team on the planet would keep moving at the same speed the entire time and not experience time dilation.
