Now, this episode is one of the most hated of them, and I personally don't find it insulting, but I can see why some group of people can be find offended by this episode.
The scene between Quark and the CEO of Slug-O-Cola is funny not because the situation itself, but because karma for whar Quark tried to do in the start of the episode, something what sadly already happend in real life, but Quark recieve a humble leason during this episode during the Nagus plan.
Some poeple have troubles to understand the Ferengis aren't made to be sympathetic, it's made to laugh about them and not with them. Roughly speaking Ferengi; can be compared to the cast of South Park, they aren't supposed to be nice people.
Profit and Lace is commonly cited as an example of the weaker Star Trek entries. Whilst I would not describe it as good, there are worse and less entertaining episodes in all Trek shows. The only real gripe I have is the initial use of Quark. It is disappointing to see a character who the writers have previously developed reduced to coercively sexually harassing an employee in order to set up an ironic comedy arc. This element feels contrived to the point of distracting and it is not the first time the writers have seemingly moved this character forwards before dragging him back for the convenience of a plot.
Generally the experience hinges on whether or not you appreciate the humour. No fictional television should be taken overly seriously, especially when played mostly for laughs. I think the likability of the Ferengi characters is important as they are like Marmite for some. Wallace Shawn's Zek has always grated on me and although Ishka is intended as strong character for feminist reform her relationship with Zek and her sons has rarely worked for me.
I would suggest that if you find jokes about gender stereotypes or males dressing up as females offensive or unfunny, do not watch it as it contains all the clichés. I appreciate the actors professionalism with the material by doing their best to make it work. If you approach it for the farce that it is there are aspects to enjoy.

- TriviaIt is generally accepted amongst the writers and cast that the main problem with the episode is that while the writers wrote it as high farce, Alexander Siddig and Armin Shimerman saw it as a much more serious piece, in the tradition of Family Business (1995); a comic episode with serious undertones. As Shimerman says of Siddig, "He wanted to make it less of a comedy and more of an exploration of the relationship between a bickering mother and son. He tried to push the envelope and take Quark into an area that Quark isn't used to going in. I applaud him for it, although we reshot some of the scenes, like the heart attack, because he had a much darker vision than the writers had imagined."
- GoofsFerengi culture seems to have developed a well-defined sense of female fashion, highly distinct from the way males dress, which is odd in a culture where women have never been able to wear clothes.

Rom: Think of the terrible repercussions to the Alpha Quadrant!
