What was this episode about?: George pretends to be Marine Biologist thanks to Jerry covering for him.
Elaine oversees a Rigid Russian writer who is weak to sound like the Venom character.
Kramer can't golf
Jerry is just being Jerry,
Story and the production: This was a George story, with bits and pieces from everyone else. Everyone else was a supporting cast member.
Highlight: The final monolouge from George Costanza... and the H**ker quote.
Laugh meter: 10
Girlfriend attractiveness level: 6. She was a normie girl. She was obviously wearing a wig which brought down her score.
What can be learned?: Always know Georges Alley's.
Verdict: A splendid episode. One of Seinfeld's Best.
"The Marine Biologist" is possibly the best episode in Seinfeld's fifth season, and one of the best in the whole series. While other episodes usually had two, three or four parallel story lines, here George is the clear star of the episode, and Jason Alexander delivers some of his best, most hilarious acting. His monologue at the end of the episode, in particular, is genius and one of the finest moments in the series.
That's not to say that the other actors don't pull their weight. Elaine has some hilarious moments, and Kramer has brief but fantastic scenes. Rosalind Allen and Carol Kane drop by for great guest appearances. All around, one of the very best episodes of this wonderful show.
The discussion about "Golden boy" - so good. I've been there.
When Jerry tells George to expect a call from Diane at the coffee shop... also gold. Jerry tells George that ... "I should tell you ... that ... at this point ... she's under the impression that ... you're a marine biologist." Gold! George: "But I'm NOT a marine biologist!" Jerry: "I know." Excellent!
The story line with Kramer and the Titleliest was well-integrated into the main George story-line. The Elaine story-line, less so, though it did give us an opportunity to to see Carol Kane in action on Seinfeld. Thank you, Seinfeld creators. Carol Kane never disappoints. Jerry: "Who do I know that would've even been in a limo yesterday!? OOOHhhhh!"
George: "Why couldn't you make me an architect!? You know I always wanted to pretend that I was an architect!" So good!
The physical comedy of Kramer, when he talks about how badly he stinks at golf, with the sand in his pockets!!! Classic Kramer!
Hotel manager ("Crowell): "Well, you can wait for them outside." Carol Kane: "Yeah, I'd guess I'd better. I wouldn't want to take any attention away from the hookers!"
About the beached whale - Larry David: "Is anyone here a marine biologist!?!?" HA!!
Diane: "Save the whale, George. For me"
"The sea was angry that day, my friends. Like an old man trying to send back soup at a deli." Perhaps the best line ... in the best monologue ... of the entire series!
Kramer: "Is that a Titleiest?"
Beautiful!

- TriviaThe audience response to the end of George's (Jason Alexander) story is regarded by many as one of the longest sustained laughs by the "Seinfeld" studio audience in the show's history, rivaled only by the response to Kramer's (Michael Richards) line "I'm out" from Season 4's The Contest (1992).
- GoofsWhen Jerry asks Elaine what room Testikoff is in she says 308. However, when the author opens the door it reads 507.

[last lines]
George: The sea was angry that day, my friends - like an old man trying to send back soup in a deli. I got about fifty feet out and suddenly, the great beast appeared before me. I tell you, he was ten stories high if he was a foot. As if sensing my presence, he let out a great bellow. I said, "Easy, big fella!" And then, as I watched him struggling, I realized that something was obstructing its breathing. From where I was standing, I could see directly into the eye of the great fish.
Jerry: Mammal.
George: Whatever.
Kramer: Well, what did you do next?
George: Well then, from out of nowhere, a huge tidal wave lifted me, tossed me like a cork, and I found myself right on top of him - face to face with the blowhole. I could barely see from the waves crashing down upon me, but I knew something was there. So I reached my hand in, felt around, and pulled out the obstruction.
[George dramatically reveals the obstruction to be a golf ball]
Kramer: [somewhat embarrassed] ... What is that, a Titleist?
[George nods]
Kramer: A hole in one, huh?
Jerry: Well, the crowd most have gone wild!
George: Oh, yes they did, Jerry - they were all over me. It was like Rocky 1. Diane came up to me, threw her arms around me, and kissed me. We both had tears streaming down our faces. I never saw anyone so beautiful. It was at that moment I decided to tell her I was not a marine biologist!
Jerry: Wow! What'd she say?
George: She told me to go to hell, and I took the bus home.
