    Finally a relatively normal episode

This episode reminds me of the previous ones before it all went boring and unrealistic. Season 8 was already way worse (with all those pointless daydreaming scenes), but the ninth one is almost unwatchable. However, this episode was a really nice throwback to what the show once used to be (a sitcom about a blue collar family).

I'm really mad about what they did to Dan. It's so out of character and so unnerving.

Classic TV Xmas Countdown Episode #44

Dan arrives home from California just in time for Xmas, as the Conners spend their first holiday enjoying their newfound wealth.

The trainwreck that is Season 9 manages to provide a holiday episode that is not cringe-worthy. John Goodman receives a very loud and long ovation when he makes his entrance. He looks heavier than we have seen him in a while.

Roseanne replaces one of the missing wisemen with a yellow Power Ranger - ahh, the '90s. Her gift to Dan is their mortgage and a lighter. He gets emotional after setting it on fire, signifying an official end to the Conners' financial struggles.

**SPOILERS** It ends with a picture-perfect shot of the family, all basking in their happiness. That is, until we see Dan having an intimate telephone conversation with someone with whom he's obviously emotionally involved - and Jackie overhears it.

The tag scene features a peeved Santa berating the Conners - via primitive cel phone - for sealing off their chimney. 7/10.

    • Trivia
Roseanne says that she's hardly seen Fred "since he moved in with that D.A. chick with them two kids." This is an inside-joke. Michael O'Keefe, who played Fred, left this series to star on the short-lived Life's Work (1996), in which his character was married to a lawyer. "Life's Work" immediately followed 'Roseanne' on ABC's Tuesday night schedule.
