    Days of our Lives

The 4077th suffers a psychological tremor with the visit of a young surgeon who shows all the regular folk up with his top notch surgical skills. Potter questions his worth. Winchester questions his reign as the world's leading surgeon. This is a serious episode about experience and youth.

Charles Gets a Helping of Crow

A wunderkind surgeon visits the camp to show some procedures for dealing with serious heart conditions. Because he is young and rather serious, there is immediate resentment. Meanwhile, Potter is suffering from a leg condition that has him nearly disabled. It gets back to him that the kid is doing a great job and he isn't needed. He overreacts, thinking his services are inadequate, and goes to bed. Charles gets one upped by the guy and goes on a three night drinking binge. It's another "statement" episode where youth is automatically seen as incompetence. It follows "Inga" where serious women are also seen in a lesser light. One thing that concerns me is that Winchester almost has to stay out of surgery because of his drunkenness. Haven't we seen this handled much more severely before?

    • Trivia
When Potter plays along with Klinger's discharge scheme and starts filling out the paperwork, he asks Klinger for his mother's maiden name, to which he replies "Abodeely", which is Jamie Farr's mother's maiden name.
    • Goofs
Multiple times in this episode Klinger interferes with or delays patient care to advance his scheme. A real soldier doing this would have been disciplined for potentially causing harm to others.
