    The show's standout episode.

Eloise Clare, as was, The Duchess of Montfort is interviewed by Jemima, after shooting and killing a burglar named Kenneth, who broke into her home. Kenneth's partner Cecil, plans his revenge on The Duchess.

After the so what garish debut two parter, A Splash of Red, The Dancing Duchess offers something completely different, this is a fresh, intriguing case, an interesting character study, featuring something of a screen legend.

For 1983, this story was quite ahead of its time, an open, gay relationship, jokes about closets, credit to writer Simon Brett for penning something quite progressive. Brett perhaps best known for writing ITV's fondly remembered comedy, After Henry.

A theatrical, but emotion packed performance from Brian Oulton, and of course a great turn from Constance Cummings, who was coming towards the late stages of her illustrious career, however, it's the magic of Hugh Burden that makes this episode so very good, terrific actor.

If only the rest of the series was like this one.

    9/10.
