    The Weaker Sex?

Tom is a sucker for the wares collected by Sam, the rag and bone man. Especially one who has an ancient range cooker and a patter in cockney rhyming slang.

Only the range cooker might cut down on electricity bills. It has dripping dried over from the Victorian era.

It is left to Barbara to scrub it clean. So much so her clothes are ruined.

While Tom tries to figure out how to scare the birds in his garden. They are eating his crop. Eventually Barbara loses her rag. Feeling unappreciated and getting no help from Tom.

As she seeks solace from Margo. Barbara finds that Margo is arguing with Jerry over the crummy clothes she has had to wear. Her clothes are much more expensive than anything Barbara wears.

Tony Selby plays Sam, the rag and bone man who is posher than he makes out to be.

Interesting to note that Tom was worried by rising electricity bills. It was an issue in the mid 1970s.

    Edit
    • Trivia
The first appearance of Tom whistling the semi-recognisable melody that a later documentary would actually admit that it really was based upon "Over the Raindow", from the MGM version of "The Wizard of Oz". Considering the episode is the one with the scarecrow dress, that may not entirely be a coincidence.
    • Goofs
When Jerry (Paul Eddington) goes to take the photograph, he actually accidentally moves the angle of the camera, yet neither Tom nor Barbara point out that it is no longer pointing directly at them.
    • Quotes

Tom Good: Do you like it?

Barbara Good: Yes, I've always wanted two tonnes of rusty old iron in the kitchen. What's it for?

Tom Good: It's a range, you range on it, with it.

Barbara Good: Yes but what's it for? We've got a perfectly good cooker already.

Tom Good: Won't be very good in a couple of weeks when the power gets cut off.

Barbara Good: Clever. How much did we pay for it?

Tom Good: The toaster and your hairdryer.

Barbara Good: Oh thank you very much.

      Tom Good: No electricity.

Barbara Good: Well, I suppose I could learn to cook with it.

Tom Good: If you want to dry your hair, put it in there. If you want to make toast, this is *the* way of making toast.

Barbara Good: Will you be swapping your electric razor for anything soon?

Tom Good: Yes I suppose so, why?

Barbara Good: Well this thing is so versatile I want to see how you're going to shave with it.
