    The Writer

While bringing in some empty bottles to the pub, which Hancock accidentally smashes all but one of them.

While watching the television in the pub. Hancock mocks the comedian Jerry Spring (John Junkin) and his tired comedy routine.

Only to discover sitting next to him in the pub is Jerry Spring and his manager. Hancock changes tact and tells Jerry that he is a big fan, it is the writers that are at fault.

Even suggesting some changes to his routine. Like adding a funny walk like Groucho Marx.

Jerry is so impressed, he offers Hancock a job as a gag writer. That is when Hancock becomes unstuck.

A variable episode. Once Hancock hits his stride with Jerry. You see elements of the Hancock from his BBC shows.

Apart from Groucho Marx, he even dresses up like Noel Coward.

It does zone out at the end. Hancock reduced to stealing jokes from Christmas crackers and Jerry Spring is not impressed.
