    • Trivia
Per the title, Seward's Folly was a nickname from opponents of The Alaska Purchase by the United States from the Russian Empire in 1867 at the behest of Secretary of State William Seward for $7.2 million. Those opposed did not feel that the purchased was worth it and the territory did not reach its full potential until well into the twentieth century.
    • Quotes

Hotel Clerk: Mr. McCord, of course. And Seward. Would that be the same man who talked Washington into buying that worthless iceberg?

Jason McCord: If you mean Alaska, yes.

Hotel Clerk: Well, I heard we paid seven million for...

Jason McCord: You've got good hearing. I hope you heard my message.
