    A Thorne in the Side

A crime boss whose brother is a doctor has ruined the medical man's life. He is now at his beck and call. The man has a bad heart and needs surgery. The brother doesn't have the skill, so they kidnap the woman who gives medical attention to Batman. We have seen her before. Batman gets tased and has a concussion and this limits his ability to function well in a fight. Leslie is a real hero, standing up to these guys. They understand that she won't let the elder Thorne die, but also knows that his henchmen will "take care of her." There are a few close calls. One weakness in this series is that these guys fire machine guns and can't seem to hit anything.

    • Trivia
While at Leslie Thompkins's home, Bruce Wayne picked up The Caduceus, a book that contained the photographs and names of all the medical graduates from Thomas Wayne's, Leslie's and Matthew Thorne's year. The book had a caduceus sign on it with only one serpent instead of the traditional two. The Caduceus is often confused with the real symbol of medicine, the Rod of Asclepius.
    • Goofs
When Bruce looks through his father's medical school yearbook, under Matt Thorne's name it says the year was 1907. Bruce said earlier that Throne, Leslie Thompson, and his father graduated 40 years ago, so that would mean that this would be taking place in 1947. Throughout the series, color TV and video games are shown, so taking place in the 40's would not make any sense.
    • Quotes

Bruce Wayne: Bruce Wayne, Dr. Thorne. Thomas Wayne's son. Did you get my letter?

      Matthew Thorne: Yes. Thomas Wayne...

Bruce Wayne: I told you I can help with your legal costs, maybe even put in a good word with the judge.

Matthew Thorne: Yes, but what do you get out of it?

Bruce Wayne: Well, there is something you can do for me.

Matthew Thorne: I knew it! I knew there'd be a catch. Sorry, Mr. Wayne. Matthew Thorne is no longer for sale!

Bruce Wayne: I'm not looking for any illegal favors.

      Matthew Thorne: What then?

Bruce Wayne: Something you know. Something only you can give me.

      [pause]

Bruce Wayne: Tell me about my father.
