Just to clear things up, this is the FILM "1 Litre of Tears", not the drama starring Sawajiri Erika. I honestly find it a pity that the drama is so well-known, yet the film isn't. Not that the drama wasn't great - I just think the film was much better. Onishi completely delved into the role and delivered an outstanding performance. Just watching her struggle to move around made me cry like crazy.
To be perfectly frank, I didn't pay much attention to much of the film's elements - camera, lighting, setting. I don't think that's a bad thing, really; it just goes to show how powerful the actors' performances were, so much so it becomes all you care about. The casting was perfect! I don't think the film would have had as much of an impact if Sawajiri were cast in Kito Aya's role here. The music was perfect, pacing perfect, character build-up perfect..... I don't know, I can't really find much fault with the film.
Honestly. This WILL make you cry a litre of tears.

Incredible!!
The TV series version is great (no idea about the Movie), the pace of story in series is perfect, and the performance of actors and actresses are superb. Above all the story is the simply amazing.
This story certainly changes our view of life, and makes us realize that 'u don't know what u have till its gone'. It inspires us to enjoy our life and become a useful person.
Indeed a gr8 movie !!!
Talking about Erika, (oh my god!) she has the best smile of the world. She makes us smile when she smiles, and makes us cry when she cries.

1 litre of tears is a very touching story about a young girls struggle with a very cruel disease. A disease which takes away all the things she loves, one by one.
As Aya-chan struggles, all people around her are struggling with her. Share the pain, sadness, but also love and joy with aya's family.
This dorama show is something great, it has a huge impact on every living soul, also and more important it is the legacy and dream of a young girl. With not only the book 1 litre of tears , bases on aya's diaries, but also this dorama show, aya's dream is fulfilled and will continue to live on.
domo arigatou aya-chan, for you will not be forgotten.
one tip for people who are going to watch this show: please have tissues next to you this show is 100% tears guaranteed

This is my first ever review about any shows . Well i watched the orignal old tv series not thiis movie but , Looking back at this series I can say this is an life changing and unforgettable (sad/bittersweet) I will never forget throughout my entire life . This series makes us rethink about things we takes for granted , make us realize those things we already had , some doesn't . Whenever you ever feel down in life and crossed your enduring limit and having thought about taking that step rethink about what valuable things you gonna lose , i guarantee this series will make changes in you , good changes .

Ichi rittoru no namida (1 litre of tears)
This Japanese dorama is about a girl who was diagnosed with a disease called Spinocerebellar Degeneration when she was 15 years old, and was able to continue her life until her death at the age of 25 years old.
The plot is based on the true story of a Japanese girl named Kito Aya, who had the same disease. She kept writing in her diary to remember her experiences until she could no longer hold a pen. Aya simply wished to live until the end of her life, and the purpose of writing in the diary was to remind herself to not give up. She shed tears many times, at the same time encompassed by the rich love and support from her family, friends, and boyfriend. Her diary "1 Litre of Tears" was published after her death, because of its inspiring and courageous message of, "Just being alive is such a lovely and wonderful thing." So far, over 18,000,000 copies of her diary have been sold.
This J-dorama really made me cry at least 2 liters of tears! I have not for a long time seen anything this sad. Erika Sawajiri made a great personification of Aya. Truly touching story, and the music is wonderful. 11 episodes full of true feelings, love, sadness and family values. I strongly recommend this drama series to everyone!
