This short film is nothing short of incredible. Appelbaum has a genuine filmmaker's eye and is loaded with talent. Surely, he's a rising star that will soon be a Hollywood staple. The tone of the film rings of fantastically quaint and daring originality. This originality is particularly prevalent in the dialect of the voice over- a device which Appelbaum utilizes to a maximum potential. Although there is no dialogue in the film, the voice over provides ample texture for both the characters and the plot- and moreover, the voice over does so in a delightfully light-hearted, charismatic manner.
Kim Rome, who plays Ladie, is clearly another rising star. Her charm explodes off the screen, leaving the audience as addicts to her will. She has a captivating power that I haven't seen since Betty Davis.
APF, without question, makes me hungry for another Appelbaum/Rome collaboration.
