I was fortunate enough to see Michael Jackson on the Dangerous Tour and History Tours.
I vividly remember recording (and still own) the original broadcast of this show.
They have overdubbed a lot of vocals onto this DVD, especially on Jam, where he very obviously lip synced. 'hee hees' and 'ho's' have been added to this DVD, where they are not present on the original broadcast.
Also, and lord knows why, there are now loads of gratuitous shots of fans passing out and being dragged away, which WERE NOT on original broadcast
Great concert, great performer, slightly dodgy DVD

No one dances and performs better than the King. Thats a fact. He is the greatest entertainer ever for a reason. And everyone should watch him perform live. He is magic. May he rest in piece. We did not deserve this man. RIP MJ

I'm not (and never been) a fanatic fan of Jacko but here we are talking about his live performance. Combined with the industry's best technology for that period (and believe me when I say that is still epic) this concert was exceptional from many points of view.
It was (probably the only) aired by HBO and reached record ratings. I remember the filming crew but I still don't know which format was used for capturing. If it was on celluloid I only hope that it will be distributed on Blu-ray too.
On the other hand, Romania was emerging from a very difficult era due to the communist encapsulation and a planetary event like this was a well deserved reward (thank you Marcel Avram for making this possible).
But overall MJ was visibly happy about being there, surrounded by an ecstatic crowd and gave his best for the show, resulting in one of the most emotional concert ever.
Since then I managed to see many of my iconic artists in live performance all over the world and I was touched by many of them but Michael Jackson Live in Bucharest remains unique. Of course I'm subjective, I had the privilege to be in the audience, but still, I can tell greatness when I see it.
I strongly recommend to spend two hours of your life watching this, you won't feel all the passed years (other then the video resolution perhaps) many of the greatest hits of all times were performed and you'll enjoy them (again).
Michael Jackson Live in Bucharest is perhaps the best concert from the 1990's to ever surface. After giving HBO massive ratings, and then again on subsequent channels around the world, it was only inevitable that it would have to get a DVD release sooner or later.
Included on the DVD are some of Michael's biggest hits, ranging from Thriller, Billie Jean, Beat It to Man In The Mirror.
The concert begins with something called "The Toaster Entrance" this hit headlines around the world, as it saw Michael being catapulted onto the stage to a massive ovation, to start off with the song Jam.
This possibly is the most amazing mix of Choreography and singing that goes together so well, that you will get goose-bumps just watching Michael's presence on stage. The most annoying parts of the concert, would have to be the crowd shots, i mean why buy a concert to see those amazing dance moves in action, only to be shown shots of girls fainting and crying.
Fan or Not, just about anyone will like this concert, as it documents Michael at his highest peak. Either-way it's a great thing to check out.

At the time of this live concert production, pop icon, Michael Jackson (1958-2009) was 34 years old and, quite obviously, right at the very top of his game in the music business.
Filmed entirely on stage (in Bucharest, Romania) - This 2-hour presentation (consisting of 16 songs) was clearly a marketing tool in order to promote Jackson's well-publicized "Dangerous Tour" to all of his devoted fans both in Europe, as well as in North America, too.
My one major complaint about this production was that (far too often) Jackson's singing became almost inaudible among all of the absolutely deafening cheers of the frantic audience, as well as the over-loud instruments of those musicians backing him up right on stage.
