This movie was an unexpected hit for me

I was going into this film thinking it would be exactly what I expected, some bad jokes and rough dialog. In fact, it was the exact opposite. The film is incredibly smart and it's characters are easily identifiable. Everyone knows people like these characters. This adds to the movie's incredible ability to suck you in and never let go. Envying Alice can have you rolling on the floor laughing one minute and then have you on the verge of tears the next. It's so flexible that it fits everyone. The movie finds it's own little part in your mind where it relates to you. The movie is personal, in your face, well written, and doesn't hold back. All of this is wrapped up in the fantastic acting given by the cast. All of these qualities combine to make it an unexpected hit.

Excellent start to the world of independent films

I have to admit that this was the first independent film I watched. All I can say if the rest of them are this good, it sure won't be my last. The film is without a doubt well made. As a very brief summary it tells the story of several college friends, and what they go through in various relationships. I loved the storyline, and as being close to the same ages as the characters I could relate to what they were going through. I will say you may have to watch the film a few times to truly understand the title. I had no clue what it meant till someone explained it. However it is very clever once you figure it out. Great acting, great storyline, great movie.

    well written,great acting...good movie.!

This is a fantastic movie that is as well written as it is cast. The movie follows four college aged persons and there quest to make sense of the world around them and how they should fit into it. Our ability to identify with the characters involved is what truly makes the movie a great one. While the entire movie is well cast, it is Jeremy Curran (Luke) and Jessica May( Laney) who truly steel the show with there extraordinary performances. Often I found myself being sucked into this world by one of these actors because, for me, they made it seem so very reel. This movie offers very poetic and faithful thinking about life and how to live it. Everything is offered to us in Envying Alice. Suspense, companionship, forgiveness, social justice, and true romance are the driving themes behind this writing masterpiece. I loved this movie because it was as entreating as it was reel. A must see for all lovers of great acting, great writing, and great independent films!

Probably one of my favorite independent films that I have ever seen. Of course having on of my favorite actors in Jermy Curran 8-). It just makes it all that much better. With good examples of life changing experiences and moving dialog. This film is good for anyone that has been or is going through tough times. It can make you think or even realize things that you haven't before. It contains all the things a good movie needs. Great characters played by great actors, a great plot that makes you never want to look away from the screen, and enough drama and comedy to make it interesting to people of any age. Its emotional, heart touching, and can make you think about what your doing in your life.

    yeah buddy!

"looking through the looking glass into wonderland, standing there envying Alice"

By far this was one of my favorite independent films. It was created using only one camera and still achieved to show many different camera angles that made the scenes seem much more interesting and defined. For example, in one scene, a family dinner, was made seemingly more chaotic because the camera constantly circled around the table. This scene would have seemed more like a normal family dinner (with a bit of argument) if this had not been done. The fight scenes were fairly well choreographed (it was no "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon"). The actors portrayed their parts very well, especially for being just college kids. This film was more than just a "movie",this because it incorporated art and poetry. There was much symbolism in this film and it was a pleasure to watch it.
