Uncensored Toxic Avenger Trailer Promises Some Truly Unhinged Violence
Image
In this new trailer for the Peter Dinklage-starring remake of The Toxic Avenger, it takes a minute or so before you find out why, exactly, this is the uncensored trailer. Then, the mayhem begins, as a Toxie for a new generation begins causing bloody carnage — sticking up for the little guy with his super-strength and toxic mop.

The original Toxic Avenger was written and directed by Lloyd Kaufman in 1984, and was followed by three movie sequels, a video game, a stage musical, a Marvel Comics series, and an animated TV show. That’s more than most franchises get — and now, it’s getting a reboot! Starring Dinklage, Kevin Bacon, Elijah Wood, Taylour Paige, Jacob Tremblay, and Jane Levy, Toxic Avenger has been waiting a while for its release, following its 2023 premiere at Fantastic Fest.

According to the official description, “When a downtrodden janitor, Winston Gooze, is exposed to a catastrophic toxic accident,...

Peter Dinklage Is a Mean, Green, Crime-Fighting Machine in New 'The Toxic Avenger' Red Band Trailer
Image
He's mean, he's green, and in just under two months, he's coming to the big screen. Nearly two years since it made its debut as the opening film of Fantastic Fest, Macon Blair's hotly anticipated The Toxic Avenger remake starring Game of Thrones favorite Peter Dinklage is finally almost here, and a new Red Band trailer is celebrating the blood and guts the mop-wielding hero is about to spill. The gory superhero horror comedy based on the 1984 Troma film by Lloyd Kaufman faced an uphill battle to find a distributor because of its over-the-top graphic content, but it's that same level of violence and adherence to the ideas that made the original a cult classic that drew Cineverse to it in the first place. This new look relishes the viscera viewers will soon see in theaters while also teasing the surprisingly heartfelt story of the perpetually unfortunate Winston Gooze.

McU's Captain America Anthony Mackie Will Have Most Screen Time In 'Avengers: Doomsday'
Image
A new rumor has suggested that one Avenger will be getting a lot more screen time than usual inAvengers: Doomsday, and it should be pretty obvious given their new role in the MCU following the events of Avengers: Endgame and several subsequent stories.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has become a vast expanse of characters, so much so that it is impossible for any character to have a quick turnaround from one appearance to the next. Some characters have waited years between movies featuring them in a leading role, even though, in MCU terms, their movies are usually only days or months at most apart.

According to The Cosmic Circus, one character set to get more screen time in the upcoming Avengers movie is the new Captain America, Sam Wilson. While Avengers: Doomsday is set to be packed with characters from across more than 25 years of Marvel stories, with old X-Men...

Original Avenger finally set for huge comeback in Avengers: Doomsday
Image
Earth's Mightiest Heroes will finally assemble for the first time in more than half a decade. But given that much time has passed since we last saw them, the team's line-up will be radically different this time around. Not only are fan favorites such as Tony Stark's Iron Man and Natasha Romanoff's Black Widow out of the picture, but new blood has made its way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well.

The Fantastic Four, Yelena Belova, Shang-Chi, Namor, and many others will be a part of these big crossovers for the very first time in cinematic history. Audiences are set to witness a very different roster of heroes, but maybe there's still a bit of space left for some of the original Avengers members.

Thanks to the Avengers: Doomsday cast announcement, we know that Thor is set to make a comeback. Furthermore, rumor has it that...

The Toxic Avenger’s wild second teaser trailer: Peter Dinklage wields a green-glowing mop of justice
Avenger (2006)
“Nobody special…Just some dude with A Mop!” That’s how the 2025 version of the Toxic Avenger describes himself in the new teaser trailer for the upcoming Peter Dinklage reboot. The second teaser trailer expands on the first, providing fans with plot details and even more wild action.

The Toxic Avenger’s second teaser trailer gives fans a taste of what to expect from the long-awaited, wild reboot, which has sat on a shelf since 2023. Legendary Pictures had difficulty securing a distributor due to the film's over-the-top gore until Cineverse stepped in to save the day by picking up the film for distribution, with support from Iconic Events Releasing. Hopefully, no one will get toxically cold feet before the scheduled August 29, 2025, release. The production team owes the Terrifier franchise some thanks for reviving unrated splatterfests in theaters again.

The wild Nsfw teaser revels in sophomoric double-entendre humor. The opening hints...

‘Toxic Avenger’ Sequel Reconstruction ‘Mr. Melvin’ to Debut at Troma-Thon in Pennsylvania [Exclusive]
Image
As most Troma fans know, The Toxic Avenger Part II and The Toxic Avenger Part III were originally written and shot as one movie, but directors Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz ended up with so much footage that they broke it up into two installments.

36 years years later, the filmmakers’ initial vision for the sequel has been reconstructed under its original title, Mr. Melvin.

Andrew L. Miller, Kaufman’s assistant, and Adam Peltier, star of Troma’s upcoming film The Power of Positive Murder, unearthed the original script and edited footage from the two films together as originally intended.

Toxie actor Ron Fazio provided some new voiceover for Mr. Melvin. He stars alongside Phoebe Legere, John Altamura, Rick Collins, John Altamura, Rikiya Yasuoka, and Lisa Gaye.

Clocking it at around two hours, the Mr. Melvin cut will premiere as part of Troma-Thon 2025 at the Mahoning Drive-In Theater in Lehighton, Pa...

Which Superhero Does Captain America Anthony Mackie Want To Team Up With? ( Photo Credit – Instagram )

The multiverse is cracking open wider than ever, and Anthony Mackie is ready to lead the charge with style, swagger, and maybe a little mutant backup. As Avengers: Doomsday charges full speed into production, the cast list is stacking up faster than Tony Stark’s tech patents, and yes, the X-Men are officially tagging in. It’s the kind of crossover chaos Marvel fans have been dreaming of since the first time Wolverine and Iron Man traded words in a comic panel.

Now, Mackie, our Captain America 2.0, is teasing his personal dream lineup, and let’s just say it’s looking like a squad built to break timelines and box office records. From claws to optic blasts, this next chapter is shaping to be a full-blown Marvel reunion tour, and Sam Wilson wants front-row seats and backstage passes.

Every Avengers: Doomsday cast member's previous MCU appearances
Image
Marvel Studios recently announced the cast of Avengers: Doomsday by unveiling their on-set chairs with their names printed on the back. None of the actors listed will be making their debut in Avengers: Doomsday. In fact, the only character that is not scheduled to attend any project prior to Doomsday is Doctor Doom himself, played by the original Marvel Cinematic Universe star, Robert Downey Jr.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps is still ahead of us, so it is possible Downey Jr. may emerge before Doomsday comes out. All of the other named actors are playing heroes, anti-heroes, or at the very least, a redeemed adversary. If they haven’t yet appeared in Marvel media, they all will by the time Avengers: Doomsday releases on May 1, 2026.

Here are all those actors in the same order that their chair was presented, as well as which character they play in the MCU, and...

The Toxic Avenger (2023)
Everything We Know About the Toxic Avenger Remake
The Toxic Avenger (2023)
Back in 1984, Troma Entertainment brought the world The Toxic Avenger (watch it Here), a film about “the first superhero from New Jersey.” That film spawned a franchise, leading to The Toxic Avenger Part II (1989), The Toxic Avenger Part III: The Last Temptation of Toxie (1989), Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger IV (2000), a stage musical, and an animated series called Toxic Crusaders. For a long time, we’ve been hearing that Troma wanted to make a Toxic Avenger 5 – but instead doing that, they have loaned out the rights to Legendary Pictures, allowing them to make a remake of the original film that’s set to reach theatres on August 29th, courtesy of Cineverse. In anticipation of the film’s long-awaited release, we have put together a list of Everything We Know About the Toxic Avenger Remake… and here we go:

The MCU Killed Scarlet Witch, but James Gunn Can Steal Her Fans With the Dcu's Most Overlooked Magic Hero
Image
Quick LinksZatanna Has Always Been Stalwart but OverlookedHow Zatanna Can Give the Dcu Genre DiversityZatanna Can Be the Dcu's Scarlet Witch

The new cinematic DC Universe is currently primed to have its own versions of familiar Justice League heroes, from Superman and Batman to multiple members of the Green Lantern Corps. There will also be some more obscure characters around, with the Creature Commandos being a few of them. This leaves room for other lesser-known DC icons to appear in this shared universe, namely one with the potential to cast a spell on viewers around the world.

Zatanna might not be an A-list DC character in the comic books, but the magically-inclined performer definitely has her fans. While her potential is rarely met in the comics, a big push through the DC Universe can organically change that and appeal to those beyond the usual superhero fandom. Most importantly, this could...

Peter Dinklage's Toxic Avenger Reboot Gets Gnarly First Teaser Trailer
Image
The first teaser trailer for the superhero dark comedy splatter The Toxic Avengerhas been unveiled. Starring Peter Dinklage as the titular character, the upcoming Toxic Avenger reboot adapts Troma Entertainment's original 1984 movie with a meek janitor, renamed Winston, who transforms into a deformed yet powerful vigilante. Written and directed by Macon Blair, the new version of the satirical superhero horror film also stars Elijah Wood, Jacob Tremblay, Kevin Bacon, and Taylour Paige. The film first screened at Fantastic Fest in September 2023 and will now see a broader theatrical release on August 29.

Troma Entertainment has released the first trailer for Toxic Avenger, beginning as an advertisement for an offbeat burger joint before Winston emerges to deliver blood-filled justice. The trailer appears to embrace its B-movie roots, combining outrageous violence, a highly suggestive burger tower, and a campy, radioactive aesthetic reminiscent of the original cult classic. The Toxic Avenger Gets A Bloody, Weird Teaser Trailer That Will Leave Jaws (Literally) On The Floor
Image
The first teaser trailer for The Toxic Avenger has arrived and it's violent, weird, and unhinged...which we're guessing is pretty much everything you'd want from a movie featuring the beloved Troma Entertainment cult hero.

Despite receiving overwhelmingly positive reviews at film festivals in 2023 (the movie has 92% on Rotten Tomatoes), it's been a battle to get The Toxic Avenger into theaters and, when it is finally released this summer, it will be unrated.

Based on the jaw-dropping gore - that's not hyperbole; someone literally loses their jaw here - it's not exactly hard to see why this movie didn't receive an R or even Nc-17 rating from the MPAA.

"The goal was to try to stay true to the vibe of Lloyd's original Jennifer Aspinall/Mitch Cohen creature," director Macon Blair recently said, "with some influence from the Toxic Crusaders cartoon's look, while also trying to do something new...

As Sequels Like ‘Captain America’ and ‘Paddington’ Fall Short and Original Films Like ‘Black Bag’ and ‘Mickey 17’ Struggle, When Will Box Office Rebound?
Image
If Hollywood is looking to 2025 to reset the movie theater business after a tough five year stretch, it’s not off to the strongest of starts. Original films like “Novocaine,” “Black Bag” and “Mickey 17” are failing to draw sizable crowds, while sequels in once-reliable franchises such as “Captain America: Brave New World” and “Paddington in Peru” are falling drastically short of their predecessors.

Attendance is expected to pick up in spring and into the summer, as “A Minecraft Movie,” “Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning,” “Jurassic World Rebirth,” “Lilo & Stitch” and other blockbuster hopefuls land in theaters. Until then, however, box office revenues are looking dire.

Over the weekend, Paramount’s “Novocaine,” an action comedy starring Jack Quaid as an unlikely hero who can’t feel pain, crumbled in its international box office debut with $1.8 million from 19 markets, though that represents just 25% of its overseas footprint. The film opened to No.

The Toxic Avenger Is Unleashed On First Official Poster For Macon Blair's Remake
Image
We recently got word that Macon Blair's remake of low-budget Troma classic, The Toxic Avenger, is finally going to hit theaters later this year, and we now have a first official poster for the movie (via AVClub.com).

The Toxic Avenger actually debuted its first trailer back in October of 2023 before completely dropping off the radar. Fans have been wondering about the status of the movie ever since, and earlier this year, a report claimed that the gory splatter-fest - which has a 92% score on Rotten Tomatoes - had been deemed "unreleasable" and "not safe enough to market."

Well, one distributor was willing to take a chance on Toxie, as Cinerverse and Bloody Disgusting recently announced that the movie will get a theatrical release at some point in 2025 (an exact date has not been disclosed).

Though EW recently unveiled our first look at Game of Thrones alum Peter Dinklage...

New images have revealed the best look yet at the new Toxie. Starring Game of Thrones actor Peter Dinklage, the reboot of The Toxic Avenger is coming to theaters on Aug. 29, 2025.

Previously, very little had been revealed from the remake. The only shot that's been released of Toxie was from behind the character, keeping his appearance mostly a mystery. Per Entertainment Weekly, that has changed with brand-new images released of the new Toxie. Check out the new photos below.

In the film, Dinklage plays Winston Gooze, a chemical factory janitor who becomes transformed into a monstrous mutant after a freak industrial accident. 9 Non-Toxic Trivia Tidbits About Troma’s Toxic Avenger
Image
If you’ve never seen a Troma film, they’re difficult to describe. They’re horror films, they’re comedies, they’re parodies and they’re also full of sex and gore. The most famous Troma title is The Toxic Avenger, the story of a 98-pound weakling who falls into a vat of toxic waste, transforming him into a violent superhero.

Troma founder, Toxic Avenger creator and B-movie legend Lloyd Kaufman is the subject of the new book Lloyd Kaufman: Interviews, edited by Mathew Klickstein. The book, which consists of interviews with Kaufman’s dating from 1981 to the present, is filled with insight into the man and his outrageous movies. Below are the most interesting tidbits from it about 1984’s Toxic Avenger as well as its three sequels.

1 Toxie’s Inspiration

In a 1992 interview with Tabula Rasa, Kaufman was asked about the inspiration for The Toxic Avenger. He recalls seeing a news headline that read,...

Thunderbolts marketing campaign embraces its A24 roots
Image
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a franchise known for huge action blockbusters, with some deviations to their formula for applicable content, while A24 is an independent movie and television company that prioritizes an auteur’s aesthetic as well as more intimate character dynamics. Marvel capitalizes on a specific opportunity with Thunderbolts* and framed its latest marketing material for the upcoming movie within the context of the cast and crew’s A24 connection.

Kevin Feige and the MCU decision-makers clearly perceive A24 productions as having a niche filmmaking advantage, at least in terms of a project’s quality. And most importantly, the filmmakers may have purposefully brought some of those cinematic practices and perspectives to Thunderbolts*.

After all, the Thor trailer does not highlight director Kenneth Branagh’s Shakespearian background, and the advertisements for Avenger epics do not point out that many of the stars are Oscar nominees. This Thunderbolts* campaign...

‘Mickey 17’ Leads Box Office With $19 Million But $118 Million Budget Spells Trouble
Image
“Mickey 17,” a dystopian sci-fi comedy starring a dozen Robert Pattinsons, was No. 1 at the domestic box office with $19.1 million from 3,807 theaters. But the Warner Bros. film cost $118 million, a staggering price for an original, offbeat space odyssey — and the kind of swing for the fence that could require a few lifetimes to turn a theatrical profit.

Critics and audiences were mixed on the R-rated “Mickey 17,” whose “B” grade on CinemaScore and 79% on Rotten Tomatoes aren’t encouraging for the film’s staying power. It’s a concern because “Mickey 17,” which cost another $80 million to market, needs to earn around $275 million to $300 million globally to get into the black during its big screen run, according to rival executives with knowledge of similar productions.

Internationally, “Mickey 17” brought in $25.4 million from 66 territories. The film opened last weekend in South Korea and has grossed $34.2 million overseas and $53.3 million worldwide in total.

The Rock’s debut DC film is one of the most expensive films, with a reported budget of $260 million. It was a big disappointment at the box office, failing to break even. It was released in 2022 and featured an intriguing supporting cast, including Aldis Hodge, Noah Centineo, Sarah Shahi, Quintessa Swindell, Marwan Kenzari, and Pierce Brosnan, with Johnson in the titular character. The film also marked Henry Cavill’s return as Superman, but to no avail.

When Robert Downey Jr. Wanted To Play These Two Unexpected Marvel Characters Besides Iron Man
Image
Which Other Marvel Characters Did Robert Downey Jr. Wish To Play? (Photo Credit – Instagram)

Robert Downey Jr. is the ultimate Iron Man. There are no arguments for that. He didn’t just play Tony Stark—he became him. That swagger, that wit, that genius billionaire vibe? All Rdj. But what if history played out differently? What if, instead of suiting up in red and gold, he picked up a bow and arrow or swung through the city in spandex?

Believe it or not, Downey Jr. once had his eye on two very different Marvel roles before fully embracing Iron Man. Honestly, imagining him as anyone but Stark is weird. But we’re talking about a man who turned a C-list comic book hero into one of the biggest pop culture icons ever. So, who’s to say he couldn’t have pulled it off?

One of his picks is every kid’s favorite web-slinger,...

Image
“Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy” is nearing a sweet box office benchmark with the fourth installment in the love-struck film franchise about to surpass $75 million overseas.

“Bridget Jones 4,” starring Renée Zellweger as the titular heroine, added a solid $19.2 million over the weekend from 73 international markets for a tally of $72.9 million. Those ticket sales are higher than the three prior “Bridget Jones” films as well as 2022’s Julia Roberts and George Clooney-led “Ticket to Paradise” at the same point in their theatrical cycles, according to distributor Universal Pictures. The $50 million-budgeted film debuted on Peacock in the United States.

For context, 2001’s “Bridget Jones’s Diary” earned $262 million internationally while its sequels, 2004’s “Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason” and 2016’s “Bridget Jones’s Baby” generated $224 million and $187 million overseas, respectively. Captain America: Brave New World North America Box Office: 2nd Friday Update ( Photo Credit – YouTube )

Captain America: Brave New World is experiencing a hard time at the box office. It has entered its second weekend but witnessed a sharp decline at the North American box office. With its underwhelming performance, Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford’s MCU movie might be brewing concern for Marvel Studios. Keep scrolling for the deets.

The film opened with strong numbers last week, beating the opening weekend of the first film in the franchise, Captain America: The First Avenger. It is now reportedly imitating the MCU’s Ant-Man 3 collection. CinemaScore reports an average grade of “B—” from audiences, the lowest for an MCU film to date. Is Avengers Age of Ultron Basically The Live-Action Version Of Pokémon Mewtwo Strikes Back?
Image
Are the Avenger and Pokémon franchises related to each other? ( Photo Credit – YouTube )

While the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to expand with every passing year, Kevin Feige’s studio has also called in reinforcements — The Avengers. With Avengers: Secret Wars and Avengers: Doomsday set to resume the event film series within the franchise, Marvel aims to reiterate its golden era by officially bringing Robert Downey Jr. back.

Despite being the most successful movie franchise, The Avengers pales compared to the most successful media franchise—no filters needed—Pokémon. As it happens, both Pokémon and Avengers share quite a few similarities. The sophomore theatrical releases for Pokémon The Movie 2000 and Avengers: Age of Ultron celebrate significant milestones this summer, marking their respective 25th and 10th anniversaries.

Looking further back, Pokémon The First Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back poses even more intriguing connections. These uncanny parallels spotlight how closely Age of Ultron...

Scarlett Johansson May Just Leave Robert Downey Jr. Behind With Her Juicy Roles Outside of MCU After Quitting Avengers
Image
Remember when Natasha Romanoff sacrificed herself for the Soul Stone and made entire theatres cry? It was the end of an era, especially for those who have been loving the badass Avenger since her first appearance in Iron Man 2. Even though Scarlett Johansson “returned” to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Black Widow, it was melancholic for her fans to watch knowing that the film was set before the events of Avengers: Endgame.

Scarlett Johansson sure played the hell out of Natasha all these years, so much so that it is impossible for us to imagine another actress in her shoes. However, her career outside of the MCU is equally impressive, if not more. Her upcoming Wes Anderson project proves that the actress has juicy roles all lined up and ready to go!

Box Office: ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ Aims for $95 Million Opening Over Presidents Day Weekend
Image
Paging Sam Wilson! “Captain America: Brave New World” flies to cinemas over the weekend, and Marvel’s latest adventure hopes to thaw an icy box office.

“Captain America: Brave New World,” in which Anthony Mackie’s Avenger takes over the star-spangled shield from Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers, is targeting $80 million to $85 million over the traditional weekend and $90 million to $95 million through the Presidents Day holiday. The tentpole, which cost north of $180 million before marketing, is landing in roughly 4,100 North American theaters.

The film is expected to add another $110 million at the international box office, though it’ll contend in China with “Ne Zha 2,” which has become the highest-grossing release in the country’s history with $1.1 billion and counting, and “Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy,” which is going straight to Peacock in the U.S. but playing theatrically in the rest of the world.

You'll Be Shocked About the Original Avenger with the Best Battle Record
Image
As the McU'scast of superheroes keeps growing and faces off with increasingly difficult foes, fans have continued to debate whom among them is the best of the best. Most tend to focus on the characters' individual power, arguing that their physical strength compared to each other and the franchise's deadliest villains should secure a number-one rank. By this logic, Wanda Maximoff, with her reality-bending abilities and formidable sorcery that could've destroyed Thanos in Avengers: Endgame on its own, is at the top — a placement confirmed by Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige.

However, when it comes to ranking the MCU heroes, some fail to acknowledge their success rate, and there's only one Avenger who has never been defeated in a major battle. Hawkeye is often quoted as one of the weakest team members because of his lack of supernatural powers, otherwordly technology, and reliance on archery, combat training, and tactical decision-making.
