Betrayals are quite frequent in One Piece, but it’s to be expected in the ruthless world of pirates and a corrupt government. While most of them have been out of malice and cruel acts of villainy, some betrayals were executed out of manipulation. In classic Eiichiro Oda writing, a few of them were also acts of heroism. There’s a ton of nuance that goes into these moments of betrayal in One Piece, so let’s analyze the major ones.

The protagonist of Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece, Monkey D. Luffy, has one of the greatest Devil Fruits in the series. However, what makes him and his Devil Fruit special is his ability to master it at an unprecedented pace. This proves that it’s not about the power of the Devil Fruit but the user who uses it. Still, there are quite a few powerful Devil Fruits that Luffy can never master.
The reason behind this is the difference between the nature of these Devil Fruits and Luffy’s personality, fighting style, and strengths. From Blackbeard’s Yami Yami no Mi to Doflamingo’s Ito Ito no Mi, there...

The protagonist of One Piece, Monkey D. Luffy, has slowly become one of the strongest pirates within the story, and he has earned the status of an Emperor. This means that he is considered to be more powerful than the Navy Admirals showcased in the series. While this holds true in many cases, there are a few former and current Admirals who could still pose a serious challenge for Luffy in battle.
Although Luffy could still emerge victorious against them, the battles would push him to his limits, and it’s unlikely he would come out without taking some damage. Right now, there are seven major Navy Admirals and one...

Van Augur of the Blackbeard Pirates met Saturn in Episode 1141 of One Piece so that he could warp Catarina Devon out of Egghead after she acquired a copy of Saturn’s appearance using her Inu Inu no Mi, Model: Kyubi no Kitsune. After doing so, she says that their mission has been completed.
Blackbeard’s Plan to Infiltrate the World Government
The seemingly random encounter between Blackbeard’s pirates, Van Augur and Catarina Devon, and the Elder, Saturn. This moment seems to be a premeditated mission with a far more sinister purpose. Devon has possibly the best Devil Fruit for the purpose of infiltration.

I have been following the Egghead Arc with eager anticipation, and One Piece Episode 1141 definitely delivered a surge of momentum. Watching the giants descend onto the battlefield and sinking the Navy’s ships instantly flipped the conflict in favour of the Straw Hat Pirates. I felt the energy shift as Luffy landed a stunning blow on Saint Saturn, and the Straw Hats began to seize control of the battle slowly.
However, if I have to be honest, the highlight for me was Sanji finally getting his special moment against Admiral Kizaru. Since the beginning, I have been hoping for a special Sanji moment,...

One Piece’s creator, Eiichiro Oda, has expressed his desire to avoid killing characters in the story, but despite that, there are a few characters who will most likely die by the end of the series.
Within the narrative, several characters carry heavy death flags, ranging from the legendary Marine hero Monkey D. Garp to the ultimate antagonist of One Piece, Imu. In hindsight, there are ten characters who might face their end before the series closes its final chapter, and their deaths would shake the world of One Piece in ways that fans can hardly imagine.

Spoiler Alert !!!This article contains spoilers for One Piece chapter 1155.
Ever since Eiichiro Oda introduced Loki’s character in the Elbaph arc of One Piece, he has hinted at him joining Luffy and the rest of the Straw Hat Pirates on their adventure as one of their crewmates. These hints reached a point where Luffy himself asked Loki to become one of the Straw Hat Pirates and sail the One Piece seas with him.
This development is something that fans have been waiting for a long time, but aside from the hints and speculations, nothing has been officially confirmed by Oda as of yet. Not only that, the spoilers for One Piece chapter 1155 have changed this narrative completely and gave another hint about Loki becoming a member of the Blackbeard Pirates.

With more information being revealed about Rocks D. Xebec every minute, more nd more fans are convinced he might have had good intentions for the world. Antagonists in One Piece aren’t always black and white, so this might extend to the legendary pirate.
From the little we know about him, Rocks’ true goal seemed to be dismantling the Celestial Dragons rather than cartoonish world domination. Although there’s no confirmation of it, he doesn’t seem to be the villain Eiichiro Oda made him out to be. However, One Piece might be establishing Roger and Garp as the bad guys for stopping him.
Some One Piece fans truly admire the two for their heroism, especially Roger. It would be an interesting twist to make him and Monkey D. Garp nuanced characters with potential for evil.

Spoiler Alert !!!Major spoilers ahead for Chapter 1154 and 1155 of One Piece!
The more we find out about Rocks D. Xebec from One Piece’s latest chapters, the more we’re baffled that Blackbeard is his son. Although none of us were surprised by the reveal since it was theorized for so long, Rocks shows far more ruthlessness than Blackbeard ever has within two chapters.
Rocks D. Xebec has gone from fans accusing him of being a fraud to one of the strongest characters. A power creep like this is unseen in One Piece, but we expected nothing less from him.
However, his bravery and impulsiveness set him apart from Blackbeard. Rocks’ actions in One Piece are the direct opposite of his. While the difference between their personalities is quite interesting, it’s also ironic that the most fearless pirate had a cowardly son.

After the reveal in Chapter 1154, we thought that would be enough information about Rocks D. Xebec, and Eiichiro Oda saved more for later. Instead, the next chapter jumps straight into giving us his backstory, including a major hint at why he was erased from One Piece’s history.
Rocks D. Xebec isn’t like the average pirate in One Piece, especially since he comes from Roger’s era. Even Blackbeard doesn’t measure up to his greed, and they were father and son.
As it turns out, the notorious pirate didn’t just meet King Harald at the Levely 56 years ago, but also Imu. From what happened to King Cobra, we know exactly what the monarch does to people they meet. Is One Piece hinting at what happened to Rocks?

In the final saga of One Piece, a countdown of mysteries is ongoing. With every arc and development, Eiichiro Oda is unveiling mysteries and characters. Recently, the character designs of Rocks D. Xebec, Vegapunk, and Loki were revealed. A fan on X @Pookie Piece highlighted in their post how we’re getting to the reveal of the most mysterious character yet. This character is none other than Imu.
In the past few arcs, we have seen how Imu Sama’s evil tendencies are boundless. Oda has a distinct style, and his characters are a good mixture of goofy and threatening. Depending on the character, either one of these traits can also be dominating. This style might not work for Imu, given their characterization, making the mangaka come up with something completely new!

The revelation of Rocks D. Xebec being the father of Blackbeard was certainly a startling development, but One Piece fans had expected it long ago. The reason behind this was the uncanny similarities between the two characters and their plot progression towards a singular goal, which is to conquer the whole world.
However, the two characters also share one more parallel that might be the biggest in terms of foreshadowing that Eiichiro Oda is a master at. This parallel is the crew of both Blackbeard and Rocks, which is comprised of some of the most powerful characters in the history of One Piece.
What One Piece fans might not have figured out is that the parallels between Blackbeard Pirates and Rocks Pirates might be a subtle indication by the mangaka. This indication is that of betrayal that might be experienced...

When Eiichiro Oda first announced that One Piece is entering the final saga, it was one of the biggest moments for the franchise and for the fans in almost thirty years. The series had so much going on in terms of the story that fans assumed that it would take many more years for it to reach its conclusion. Thus, it was indeed a celebratory moment for the entire fandom.
However, considering the recent developments, it looks like Oda is not enjoying writing the final saga. He might be succumbing to the pressure of the finale, and it is quite visible in the plot and character developments within the narrative. The biggest example of this is Loki, the most significant character from Elbaph, the second phase of the final saga.

Mega film producer Jerry Bruckheimer has been trying to crack a sixth entry in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise for years. A follow-up has been in the works ever since the last installment — Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. Bruckheimer has been talking about parallel installments with both new and old continuity, including a version with Margot Robbie, with conflicting reports on whether it is still a go. Bruckheimer is still giving updates about the developing sequel in his latest talk with ScreenRant.

Among the many power-ups that have been introduced in One Piece over time, the one that has most intrigued me is the Devil Fruit awakening. Devil Fruit was the first major power structure revealed within the narrative, and when I found out that this power has a next level in the form of awakening, I was excited to see Devil Fruit users unleash their full potential.
One particular Devil Fruit awakening that made me jump out of my bed was Kaido’s. Kaido is one of the strongest characters in One Piece, and it won’t be a stretch to say that he was the most terrifying pirate in the series. Thus, I always assumed that his final form was his Devil Fruit awakening.

The recently released spoilers of One Piece chapter 1152 have brought a bigger twist than I anticipated, and it will truly change the upcoming story in a major way. What enticed me even more was an official confirmation of Zoro having Conqueror’s Haki that came through Gaban as he discussed things with Luffy. After almost 30 years, it looks like One Piecemight finally be coming to an end, but Monkey D. Luffy still has one major fight that everyone needs to see animated. One Piece is one of the few anime series to have over 1,000 episodes, creating a lot of suspense for an ending that has always felt like it wasn't coming any time soon. Nobody really knows how the series is going to end, and while there are some good theories, the series finale is still shrouded in mystery.
Out of all the loose ends that need to be tied up before One Piece ends, one fight stands out in particular: Marshall D. Teach, otherwise known as Blackbeard, vs. Monkey D. Luffy. The two have been rivals since they met way back in episode 146, and their paths have always looked like they were meant to cross in the end. While everyone is looking forward to this fight,...

One Piece has a variety of characters with different strengths and skills. Many are given specific titles to match how powerful they are in the world. We know Shanks, Luffy, Blackbeard, and Buggy share the title of Yonko or the Emperors of the Sea. It shows how much influence they have over their universe, especially as a pirate.
Emperors aren’t the only legendary titles, however. Some characters are the strongest within their skillset, and a prime example is Dracule Mihawk. He’s regarded as the Strongest Swordsman in the World, undisputed for years in One Piece. He was a lone pirate until he formed the Cross Guild with Crocodile and Buggy.
There is, however, one character without any title that might rival Mihawk. Kuzan or Aokiji, a former Marine Admiral, is regarded as one of the strongest characters in One Piece. What would happen if the swordsman and the...

Anime might be one of the most mainstream forms of media in the world right now, but the one thing that majorly lacks within the industry is racial diversity. The community has been targeted multiple times for not representing characters from different cultural and racial backgrounds, and Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece has been the biggest target among them.
Anime fans have accused Oda and One Piece of limited and controversial representation of black or dark skinned characters within the series. This has been a huge topic of discussion, and even after so long, the One Piece mangaka cannot get rid of these allegations.
However, One Piece’s long-term rivals, Masashi Kishimoto’s Naruto and Tite Kubo’s Bleach, have somehow managed to escape these accusations. Both anime series have made sure that the dark-skinned characters in the story get the respect they deserve, and their portrayal does not offend any particular race or culture.

When it comes to emotional character deaths within the anime industry, very few of them have been able to match the essence of legendary Sannin Jiraiya’s death in Naruto. It was one of the most devastating deaths in the history of anime, and even Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece has failed to reach such a level of tragic death.
Oda has been against the idea of killing characters in One Piece since the beginning, and he has been quite vocal about it. Still, the mangaka has had to write off some characters from the series for the sake of the story, and their deaths have been damaging, but they did not have an impact like Jiraiya’s death.
However, Oda once had an opportunity to recreate a Jiraiya death scene in One Piece, and it would have had the same impact within the storyline. The character who would have...

Spoiler Alert !!!Major spoilers ahead for the Egghead Arc and Elbaph Arc!
The Native Hunting Competition might be one of the most horrifying acts of genocide ever orchestrated in One Piece. Celestial Dragons choose an island for the World Government to wipe out, using their population and some of their slaves as prey to hunt for sport.
One recorded incident of this is at God Valley, around 38 years before One Piece’s timeline. Ivankov, Kuma, and Ginny managed to help 500 slaves escape with the Nikyu Nikyu no Mi. What’s curious about the incident, however, is that the Roger Pirates found baby Shanks in a treasure chest.
Figarland Garling, a Celestial Dragon and now one of the Five Elders, was recently revealed to be the father of Shamrock and Shanks. He also killed the king of God Valley for protesting against the manhunt before it even began, but he was...

Kaido was one of the most interesting characters in all of One Piece. Even after his defeat against Luffy, little is known about him. But Oda seems to have left the fans some breadcrumbs to try to get the amateur sleuths to figure things out. In One Piece chapter 1035, a small flashback gave us one of the most chilling reveals about Kaido.
Not through violence, but through hope. Young Kaido, grinning widely, tells King that he’s the only one who can change the world. While this might seem to be something innocent, it reveals something extremely important when we consider the way it is worded.
Kaido believed he possessed the destiny of JoyBoy
Kaido, even as a child, did not just want to be a guy trying to become Pirate King; instead, he genuinely thought he was the chosen one. That moment tells us more about the Strongest Creature than his battles do.

Spoiler Alert !!!Spoilers for One Piece chapter 1146
After the development in the last few One Piece manga chapters, I am convinced that the main antagonists of the Elbaph arc will be the God’s Knights. These God’s Knights are trying to kidnap the giant kids, but have now faced a little hindrance because of the Giants and the Straw Hat Pirates, who have been making several attempts to save them.
However, I believe that it might not be so easy as the members of the God’s Knights are extremely powerful, and as per the spoilers of the most recent chapter, it has been confirmed that they possess regenerative abilities. This unique trait became the biggest problem for the Straw Hat Pirates during the Egghead Island arc when they were dealing with the Five Elders.
Additionally, as of this moment, I am certain that there is no counter to this potent ability,...

One Piece is a magnificent story with unforgettable characters, amazing battles, and epic moments. The story is made even more amazing by the cast of voice actors who breathe life into our beloved characters. These voice actors are iconic, and they are perfect for their roles.
One Piece’s voice actors are so amazing that we don’t consider that perhaps a few of them auditioned for one role and ended up landing an entirely different role. This was the case with Kappei Yamaguchi, the voice actor for Usopp, who originally auditioned for the role of Monkey D. Luffy.

One Piece remains one of the most iconic anime series globally, yet recent episodes have started drawing criticism for their inconsistent animation quality. This is surprising since Toei Animation, the studio behind One Piece, is a hegemon in the industry with the best resources.
But it seems that all is not well at the creators’ table as behind the magnificent scenes, the problem appears to lie in how the international talent is being integrated into the production process.

The local animators were not enough, and there was a need to recruit foreign animators. It mostly works fine, but being unaware of the Japanese style led them to make a lot of mistakes. Result? Compromising the animation quality of the beloved series.
The difficulty of meeting the Japanese standards
Japan is undoubtedly the hub of anime, dishing out hundreds of titles every season for the entire world to enjoy.

The grandeur of the One Piece narrative by Eiichiro Oda is something that has kept me hooked on the series since it initially started. From impressive character developments to brilliant plot twists, the One Piece storyline has it all, but one of the few complaints that I have with the series is that a lot of the developments within the series happen behind the scenes.
One of the biggest examples of this is all the major battles that have taken place in the story. From the God Valley Incident to Akainu vs Aokiji, Oda has to keep these thrilling action sequences out of the One Piece narrative, and he has a valid reason behind it. He once revealed that he has to pack most of the story into 17 pages, which results in a lot of the elements being left out.

Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece is an absolute masterpiece that has been ruling the anime and manga industry for almost 30 years. While the anime involves third-party elements like animation studios and directors, the manga gets the first-hand essence of the mangaka and thus brings out the true spirit of what he trying to portray through the One Piece story.
Oda’s manga panels and his drawings are among the best in the business and have been appreciated on multiple fronts. But the last few artworks that Oda has illustrated in the One Piece manga might not have been his best work and I have come across a few people who just like me have found some inconsistencies in his drawings within the story.

However, the factors that may have essentially affected his drawing in One Piece make me unsure about my criticism of it.

Spoiler Alert !!!Spoilers below for the Egghead Arc in the manga!
The Blackbeard Pirates are the most notorious and dangerous pirate crew in One Piece at the moment. Marshall D. Teach has intentionally chosen ruthless criminals and characters with nothing to lose for his fleet. He trusts them to get the job done and be as ambitious as him.
His crew has become increasingly active in the Final Saga as compared to earlier in the series. The Egghead Arc depicted the surprising arrival of Catarina Devon and Van Augar, two of the Ten Titanic Captains. They did not interfere with the Straw Hats’ affairs but perhaps did something even worse.

The power structure of One Piece is one of the most interesting yet confusing aspects of the story, and this has been proven multiple times. At this point, most of us can agree that Eiichiro Oda’s villains are on a whole other level. From flashy and flamboyant to ruthless and deviant, they are a true force to be reckoned with. There are several characters, however, who might eclipse Roger's bounty. Several famous pirates can surpass Roger's bounty, but a few high-ranking Revolutionaries can earn higher bounties too. A special mermaid and giant can realistically get at least 5.6 billion berry bounties as well.
Roger gained his astronomical bounty after sailing to Laugh Tale and gaining the One Piece treasure. These feats earned him the Pirate King title. While the general opinion of Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece is that it is a light-hearted, adventurous story, there are some dark elements that completely change the perspective of the fans towards the series. One of the most thrilling aspects of One Piece is Luffy’s enmity against Blackbeard. Both characters belonging to the D clan share similarities yet are poles apart in many ways. However, there is a trait that sets Whitebeard’s apprentice apart from the Straw Hat, and this might be unsettling.

As an ambitious pirate, Marshall D. Teach went the extra mile in his pursuits, which is evident in his acquiring two devil fruits. But that is not it, especially with how these pursuits are rather “inhuman,” as pointed out by Shanks, Ace, and Straw Hat. There might be a deeper meaning attached to this as well.

Ever since the character of Blackbeard was introduced in One Piece by Eiichiro Oda, fans have been wondering whether he is the exact opposite of the protagonist of the series, Monkey D. Luffy. While the two have been at odds for a long time, the assumption that Luffy will face Blackbeard in the end is still not confirmed within the series.

This assumption comes from the many uncanny instances introduced by Oda, which hint that the two characters were destined to face each other in an excruciating battle. Among them, the most iconic one was their first interaction with each other in One Piece which established their rivalry as pirates and is considered to be one of the best scenes in One Piece.

The power scaling of characters in One Piece has become one of the most important parts of the series ever since the narrative entered the final saga. This is because the dangers have reached a completely different level, and only the strongest can survive against them. One such character who still has some screen time left is Borsalino Kizaru, the Navy Admiral.

Kizaru had a crucial role to play during the Egghead Island arc. While he followed his duties as an admiral, he also secretly helped Luffy, which has now confused One Piece fans about which side he is on. Despite all this, it is safe to assume that Kizaru is a particularly dangerous character who has the power of Pika Pika no Mi in One Piece.
