    Journey of the Heart

Masud's 'Antarjatra' is more or less a coming of age story about a boy who, with his mother, after 15 years, is brought back to Bangladesh by the death of his father. His parents had been separated for years, which eventually lead the mother and son to move to England. During his journey, the boy learns more about his father and his family. The boy has never known his father and he slowly realizes what he missed and for the first time feels his father's absence and deprivation from his grandfather.

Masud's direction is a standout and he takes his time to tell the story. Due to cinematography we get wonderful glimpses of Bangladesh, whether it's the busy streets in the city or the green farmlands in the country. Editing is crisp, as the story is quite simple and doesn't deviate from the main plot. Performances are quite adequate. Zaker, Chattopadhyay, and Momin Chowdhury are alright in that respect.

'Antarjatra' is a decent film set in a slightly different culture, about discovering one's roots, about growing up and about mistakes.

Brilliant movie based on an ever-relevant humane story

Antarjatra is a story of discovering the invisible bond of a British-Bangladeshi teenager to his country of origin (Bangladesh), who migrated to London with his mother in his early childhood. The central character of the film, Rifaqat visits Bangladesh for the first time to attend his father's funeral. He never met his father or the other members of his family. He was kept isolated from them by Sarah, his mother. He feels deprived from the love and affection of his father and grandfather for the first time in his life after meeting his grandfather and other members of his father's family. He senses a strong bond to them and to the country. He realizes that though he has no memory of Bangladesh, but this is his root and he will have to come back again and again to reconstruct his lost half. Great movie! Fine editing with good camera work and sound track – really a feast for the wits. Thanks to Tareque and Catherine for a beautifully made movie based on an ever-relevant humane story.

Haven't found better what we expected from Tareq Masud.

This movie is about a Bangladeshi mother (Sara Zaker) and her teenage son who live in UK. They come to their homeland after hearing the sad news of her ex-husband's death. She realized about her homeland and the relation between husband and wife. The son realized about his root, his soul, his motherland and relation between father and son, mother and son. But they could not back to their root. again they went back to UK where they are the 2nd class citizen.

The concept and idea of this movie was really awesome and deep. But the output is really disappointing. It's unexpected from Tareq Masud. The director of Matir Moina.
