Surely this is no masterpiece. If you'll enjoy this movie really depends on whether you're trying to take it serious or not. I believe I wouldn't have enjoyed it if I watched it alone but it was tons of fun watching it with friends and pointing out plot-holes, people's tendency to drop their weapons or the director's inclination to stick the camera onto different weapons.
While this does not speak for the actual "quality" of the film, I can say it is definitely possible to enjoy this movie. Although to be honest it tends to drag at points and becomes a bit repetitive (they see one of the murderers, knock him unconscious, run away and hide, one person gets killed - repeat) but i guess the characters are meant to act stupid since otherwise the movie would be over after 10 minutes (that's actually the case for most slasher movies). I do not believe this was meant to be such a serious movie and thus it should probably not be judged as such: It's a gory and silly flick. Still, even in that category there's better movies. As I said, it can get boring at times, there's a few unnecessary twists (especially the last scene) and some bad editing.
Note: I watched the badly dubbed German version so i can't really say much about the acting.

This film is not quite as bad as, say, Tommy Wiseau's "The Room", or "Birdemic: Shock and Terror". It is, however, the closest you can get to that level of awful awesomeness in Swedish films.
"Death Academy" is filled to the brim with awful, stiff acting that isn't believable for a second, gigantic holes in the logic of the story, and plot holes that make you wonder if there even is a plot! And yet, there always seems to be a gleam in the eye, as if the director knows how awful his film is and is trying to have as fun with it as possible.
The gore ranges from mediocre to pretty good, and it's evident that all the money went into props and effects. The sound quality is so-so, even for a low-budget movie, and the music is so out of place that it's laughable - in a good way!
The camera angles are often very strange, and the cameraman often makes dramatic zoom-ins on people's faces when they're in the middle of a sentence! Also, when filming any of the girls, he often focuses on the wrong parts...
If you enjoy humorously bad films, this is a must see. I watched it with some friends and had a blast. It's a 100 minutes of uninterrupted laughter and enjoyment!

Consistent story, amazing actors, and excellent production quality. Over all I must say that this is the greatest movie of all time. I would definitely recommend it. By now I'm just trying to get 5 lines of text to be able to publish this review. I like dogs and I wanna swing from the chandelier, from the chandelier.
The acting is terrible, it's laughable. The music seems very unfitting at several places, and is cut weirdly. The movie has been color corrected in a way that makes the color seem strange in the scenes in the dark school hallways. Sometime the editing and sound effects are awesome. At other times they are just bad.
But this film is a lot of fun. Several of the characters are so over-the-top that they come out as hilarious. I love the "final girl's" boyfriend. He's a bad-ass. And the fat Shaggy-esque guy is a riot. There are some really cool deaths, like the buzz-saw murder or the with the fire extinguisher-kill. They are great.
And the ending was actually unexpected. Good job there.
Despite all the flaws it's worth a watch. And you know what? I had much better time watching this low budget slasher than Mikael Håfström's big budget Strandvaskaren/Drowning Ghost. This is way better.

I happen to be from the same town as the director and this was shot in my school (featuring several of my teachers and friends) but don't think that i will spare it just because of that. This is a nefariously bad movie. The acting is so stiff that it seems like the actors realized what they were doing halfway through and wanted out but they couldn't. Of course i realize that this isn't bona fide actors but still. I wouldn't knock this totally though. The effects are great (particullary the bit with the fire extinguisher) and the quality is crisp but in the end i just couldn't picture this as anything more than a goof.
By the way the actor that played the janitor (Jan Lundmark) died last year and was a good friend of mine. Rest in peace Jan!

- GoofsA teacher refers to the Swedish "serial killer" Thomas Quick. At the time of production Quick was in an institution for the criminally insane after being convicted for 8 murders. He had confessed to 30 murders but most of these were outside the then 25-year statute of limitations. Quick withdrew all of his confessions in 2008 and in December 2009 the court of appeal granted a retrial of one of his convictions. Quick was acquitted in September 2010. He demanded retrials of the rest of the murder convictions and on 30 July 2013, Quick was acquitted of the last of eight murder convictions. Referring to him as a serial killer or even a murderer is a factual error.
- Alternate versionsThe 2005 DVD-R release from Slasherpool has a much shorter version of the introduction that shows what happened at the high school ten years ago. The introduction was edited down for pacing and all the gore content is intact. This is the version the director prefers and runs at 89 minutes.
