Those Bitter Sweets

This is a fairly early occurrence of the Sennett Bathing Beauties -- some later, well-known actresses seen here are Mae Busch as the main object for the men to fight over, and a lovely clothes horse she is. Among the Bathing Beauties, some of whom appear in the still-daring one-piece suit pioneered the previous decade by Annette Kellerman, are Marie Prevost, Virginia Fox and Phyllis Haver.

Unfortunately, the rest of the film is for 1915, old hat for Keystone as the escalating struggle for the hand of Miss Busch involves poisoning some chocolates in a "if I cannot have her then nobody shall!" mode. Actual physical slapstick is limited to one kick in the pants and the frequent change of venue -- from a car ride, to a parlor, to a soda fountain to the beach -- seems to be more to cover the lack of anything more interesting to show on the screen.
