It's always funny when a movie has a clear reference point but can't afford the rights to directly reference it. The Lost Episode opens with on screen text informing us that what we're about to watch was originally recorded on Halloween 2004 "for use in a popular police reality show" and later on, when one of the two leads is asked what's with all the cameras he says it's for "a reality tv show." But there's no doubt that we're watching a riff on Cops from the moment we're dropped into the footage that's ostensibly been gifted to the world by a torrent release group. Two officers, Paul Massaro (Benjamin Sutherland) and Terrence Williams (Anthony Grant), narrate to camera and sound people seated in the...

Through iconic movies like Die Hard, Conan the Barbarian, and Rambo, stars like Bruce Willis and Sylvester Stallone practically defined the action genre for generations. Playing on the machismo of these stars, a non-stop slew of movies built up the ideal Hollywood action hero, men often known for their muscular forms and entertaining films. However, some of the best hero actors have played excellent villains too.
Action stars are often some of the most at-risk stars when it comes to typecasting, making it natural for many of them to try and spread to other roles and genres. For many, playing a bad guy has brought out the best in their skills as an actor, with some of their biggest fans praising those roles as their greatest work. While these stars are still best known for their franchise heroes, their villainous roles should be appreciated too.

In Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero, ghosts transcend being mere traces; they actively engage in Marona’s quest, influencing her path and surrounding world.
Diverging from Western RPGs that typically portray undead entities as antagonists or cursed beings, The Lost Hero explores a Japanese interpretation of spirits—deeply connected to Buddhist philosophy of transience and the Obon ritual, where deceased souls return not to menace, but to provide guidance.
Marona’s skill in binding Phantoms to objects transforms spectral entities into temporary companions, emphasizing the game’s exploration of ephemeral connections. Ash’s sudden absence disrupts her narrative stability, compelling her toward leadership and adaptability beyond the typical mentor-student relationship common in Japanese role-playing games.
This dynamic perspective on identity resonates with storytelling in works like Natsume’s Book of Friends, where spirits embody both playful and somber qualities. Within a world of constant change, The Lost Hero explores the essence of endurance.

Quick Links An Outgoing ABC Executive Had One Shot to Prove He Could Craft a Hit J.J. Abrams and Damon Lindelof Crafted Lost's Pilot Episode With No Limits The Lost Pilot Was Expensive, Unorthodox and on the Precipice of Disaster The Lost Pilot Was Ordered to Series by ABC Out of Pure Desperation
In the history of television, there are landmark moments that defined the medium and industry. The debut of Lost in 2004 was one such moment, but no one realized it at the time. Everything about the show went against conventional wisdom. In fact, that Lost ever debuted its pilot episode was a miracle because disaster loomed over every step of its development.
A common industry joke in 2004 was that ABC stood for "Already Been Canceled," because the network was often fourth place in ratings. The executive in charge of the network knew his time in the role was limited.

Will Daniel Radcliffe be the next Wolverine? (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Yes, the man who turned broomsticks and wands into a global phenomenon is playing it kinda cool about those Wolverine fan-casting rumors. But trust me, this is no ordinary “meh” response. Daniel Radcliffe is practically throwing down the gauntlet. “Prove me wrong, Marvel.” That’s the line that got the internet buzzing.
Here’s the deal. Hugh Jackman’s reign as Wolverine is officially over. The claws are tucked away after Logan (2017), and fans are restless, ready for a new face to take on the iconic X-Men character. Enter Daniel Radcliffe. With his short stature and a fanbase that’s obsessed with comic-book accuracy, he’s naturally become the top contender in some circles. And, boy, did he notice.

Dragon Ball Gt may not hit the same heights as the other entries in Akira Toriyama’s acclaimed shonen franchise, but it’s a fascinating addition that frequently doesn’t get its due. There’s certainly some tonal whiplash from Dragon Ball Z’s end to Dragon Ball Gt’s start, as the anime tries to find its footing and figure out its own identity. It also doesn’t help that, at only 64 episodes, Dragon Ball Gt is only a fraction of the length of other Dragon Ball series, and it wraps things up just when it’s truly starting to get confident in its storytelling.
That being said, Dragon Ball Gt might have left an even smaller impression on audiences if its formative Baby Saga never came around. Dragon Ball Gt’s Baby Saga is when the anime really finds its rhythm and, at 24 episodes, it comprises more than a third of the anime.

Kiefer Sutherland has appeared in multiple acclaimed films and shows in the past few years. While his role as Jack Bauer in 24 is probably his most well-known, his appearances in Stand by Me, A Few Good Men, and the drama Designated Survivor have brought him a lot of recognition. His 1987 vampire comedy The Lost Boys became a cult hit.
Sutherland plays David, a vampire who acts as the gang leader of a local bike gang and befriends the protagonists. Sutherland’s character has gained a cult following, with David being regarded as one of the greatest villains in pop culture. While there were plenty of scenes for him to shine, one gory deleted scene would have made David a legend.

Everything about the Lost series defied the conventional wisdom for what could be a hit show for network television. From heavy serialization to hiding details in a few frames before people could "pause" shows they watched. Even though Lost spanned genres, time periods and bent reality, there are still some things that happened in nearly every single episode. While not truly a procedural drama, the storytellers relied on certain things each and every week. The popularity of network television procedural dramas is how predictable they are: a mystery is introduced, exposition is delivered, and the heroes chase the wrong solution.
The characters ultimately discover the truth in the end, with the revelation often having some personal significance to a character. While taking a wildly different approach, those elements are also part of the narrative framework in Lost. The series had its own quirks and signature style. Viewers who didn't follow...

George R.R. Martin has confirmed the release date for the film adaptation of one of his earlier fantasy short stories, which will star Dave Bautista and Milla Jovovich. Best known for his epic book series, A Song of Ice and Fire, which became the foundation for Game of Thrones, Martin has established himself as one of the most influential voices in modern fantasy. His works have transformed how audiences perceive fantasy storytelling, and his complex characters, intricate political landscapes, and expansive worlds have redefined the genre.
While Game of Thrones remains his most recognized project, Martin's broader catalog includes several lesser-known works that showcase his ability to craft immersive tales that explore diverse themes, settings, and styles. Following BioWare's signature method of storytelling, Dragon Age: The Veilguard often presents players with important choices that can have major effects on the story later down the line. As players get closer to the end of the game, the consequences of these decisions can lead to drastically different outcomes. The decisions can have a major impact on companion approval, quest rewards, and, in some cases, even decide the overall fates of certain characters, so knowing in advance what the consequences are can help players tailor their playthrough to their liking.
One such decision in Veilguard is presented as part of a late-game main quest, "The Siege of Weisshaupt", where Rook has to decide how to deal with the First Warden of the Grey Wardens. Throughout the rest of the game up until this point, the First Warden has been consistently antagonistic towards Rook, leading up to the confrontation in this quest,...

Two decades ago, the debut of ABC's Lost might have been the peak of an era of television that has since passed on. It's fitting, because the show about castaways on a magical island was all about letting go and facing change. Yet, even though the producers spent years crafting a definitive ending for the series, some viewers don't really understand Lost. In fairness, however, that's part of the fun. In the new Getting Lost documentary, series co-creator Damon Lindeolf reveals the finale of HBO's The Sopranos inspired them. Specifically, the ambiguity of the ending and creator David Chase's unwavering refusal to try to explain it.

It’s always fascinating to know the reasons why actors decide to go behind the camera for the first time. After all, the subject must have hit a very personal part of their being so as to take up the extraneous effort of mounting an entire story to the screen in a language that is mostly foreign to them. So, when Maggie Gyllenhall was asked why she decided to make The Lost Daughter (now streaming on Netflix), her answer assured me more than anything else.
She said that when she first read Elena Ferrante’s book that goes by the same name, her first line of thought was “Oh my god! This woman is so fucked up and I totally related to her. So am I so fucked up?” As funny as that sounds, the reason feels palpable. I mean, I have always wanted to see a mother on screen...

Justin G. Dyck has almost 40 directing credits to his name, and most of those credits have been on TV movie romances with titles like Christmas Wedding Planning, Christmas with a View, A Very Country Wedding, and Art of Falling in Love… but recently, Dyck has been shifting gears. In 2020, he brought us the supernatural horror movie Anything for Jackson (pictured above), which was released through the Shudder streaming service. He went on to contribute to episodes of Shudder’s Creepshow series. Last month, we heard he will be directing the horror film The Casket Girls, starring Gabrielle Union. Now, Deadline reports that Dyck will be directing the haunted house movie William for Aperture Entertainment.

The following contains major spoilers for Brilliant Minds Season 1, Episode 3, "The Lost Biker," which debuted Monday, October 7 on NBC.
Brilliant Minds Season 1, Episode 3, "The Lost Biker" fulfills all the NBC show's untapped potential. This is the hour that delivers everything the series has wanted to be. While it still has a while to go before it becomes a hit medical drama, it's fantastic to see the writers step away from the genre tropes and into their own territory.
"The Lost Biker" refers to Wyatt James, a member of a local biker gang who's also Dr. Oliver Wolf's mechanic. When Wyatt shows up at Wolf's home with a bullet in the arm, it's time for the problem-fixing tables to be turned. This enables the writers to also probe into Wolf's character more and allow him to connect further with the audience. Elsewhere, one of the interns gets some much-needed fleshing...

One of the Doctor's most well-known foes is set to receive a new origin, as Big Finish is set to adapt the upcoming audio drama Doctor Who: Genesis of the Cybermen. The cyborg foes stripped of all their emotions made their debut in William Hartnell's final story as the First Doctor, The Tenth Planet, in 1966. Despite having several beginnings across the series, their goals have remained consistent as they set out to convert all life and remove anything they see as a weakness, ridding themselves of humanity.
While the Cybermen haven't been seen on-screen since Jodie Whittaker's final adventure, The Power of the Doctor, an older, once-scrapped tale has been given new life in the form of a new Big Finish audio drama set to release in March 2025. For the 10th birthday of The Babadook, Jennifer Kent has reminisced about the influences on her feature film debut. She named some sources directly and hinted strongly at others, but one can deduce a list of likely suspects from her statements. Horror fans will recognize some beloved classics, and perhaps discover some new favorite films by tracing the Babadook's patrimony.
The Babadook concerns a widow and her young son whose shared trauma manifests as a tenacious boogeyman that alienates them from society, and from each other. Recent interviews with Jennifer Kent go to show that even a wildly original movie owes a debt to cinema history, and the following list spans more than a hundred years, multiple countries, and a wide variety of horrific subgenres.

The Bangles co-founder Susanna Hoffs has announced she is releasing a new archival album titled The Lost Record on October 18th via Baroque Folk Records. In anticipation, she has shared the original version of “Under a Cloud,” which was later released by The Bangles in 2011.
The material on The Lost Record was originally recorded in 1999 in Hoffs’ garage, where she was joined by Bill Bottrell, Brian MacLeod, and the Go-Go’s members Charlotte Caffey and Jane Wiedlin.
In a statement, Hoff said that time was a “sweet, special period of being home with a new baby, but also an exploration of identity, separate from the Bangles.” She added that the album was like a diary “reflecting on the things that mattered most in life: love and connection.”
On that note, Hoffs’ version of “Under a Cloud” solely features her vocals and is more jangly and string-laden than the version that...

Ash Ketchum was the protagonist of the Pokmon anime series debuting in Episode 1, "Pokmon - I Choose You!" on September 8, 1998. Almost twenty years later, he assembled over one hundred Pokmon and won two championships. He's traveled to almost every known region and has made many friends, enemies, and rivals. Alongside his partner Pikachu, Ash remained the franchise's mascot as his starter for a decade, only retiring from the protagonist role in the series' final episode. At least, before it transitioned into the new Pokemon Horizons.
Despite the number of strong Pokemon Ash has obtained, he has a couple of bad apples that have ruined his win-and-loss ratio. Whether from their unimpressive performance, lack of interest in battling, or Ash's inexperience as a trainer, they've been unable to make their mark on Ash's battle legacy. Fear the Walking Dead is a standalone spin-off that serves as a better starting point for new viewers of The Walking Dead franchise. With a rotating cast of characters, Fear the Walking Dead offers a true ensemble effort that is well worth watching for fans. The show's resurgence in popularity on Netflix has brought attention to its debut in a Walker-infested Los Angeles setting.
A spin-off of AMC's ultra-popular The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead boasts a completely new cast of characters and a few notable crossovers and cameos. Created by Robert Kirkman and Dave Erickson, the post-apocalyptic horror series was the franchise's first-ever spin-off. Instead of being set near to its parent show's Atlanta setting, the series began in a Walker-infested Los Angeles, California. The first few seasons follow a dysfunctional, blended family, led by Kim Dickens' Madison Clark, but, as time goes on, more characters join the show's ever-expanding roster.

An unseen interview that captures comedian Richard Lewis holding court at Greenblatt’s Delicatessen in Hollywood is set for release on Saturday, June 29.
Filmmaker/Documentarian Gregg Barson conducted the Lewis interview for his 2011 documentary, Method to the Madness of Jerry Lewis.
Barson remembered it being one of the most hysterical interviews he ever conducted, and that’s saying plenty, because he was fortunate enough to sit down with such legendary comedians for his documentary — Richard Belzer, Chevy Chase, Billy Crystal, Eddie Murphy, Carl Reiner, Jerry Seinfeld, and Jerry Lewis himself.
“I didn’t want it to end because I was treated to a one-man, private sit-down comedy extravaganza,” Barson said, recalling the Lewis moment.
When Barson revisited the material in its entirety, he had over an hour of unseen interview footage that highlights Lewis’s frenetic improvisational style of stand-up.
