Leanne T. Smith does an excellent job at portraying the life of a single young woman in today's world. Through humor she allows the viewer to relate to the main character, Ailienne Deluca. The cinematography was done in a way where it grabs hold of your attention, and never letting it go. The actors - wonderful, simply put. The stars, Pati Lauren and Josh Medeiros, each have their own qualities that make you love them and/or hate them. The life they bring to these characters make you feel like you've met them at some point in your own life. The supporting cast strings along the elements beautifully. I definitely give this short film an "A" for the realistic writing, awesome cinematography, and talented cast. As you see this gem of a short, you can be assured that you will have an unforgettable time! Don't forget your martini.
I really liked this film produced by Palm Beach Film School, it is so funny in its own comic style. Leanne Smith did a good job on the film, can't tell for sure that's her first directing job/film. The actors are good in it. The camera angles and shots were well-shot, that's what I like about shooting lenses. The director of photography of Big Apple Martini Steven Devlin did a good job with the work. Leanne Smith should keep up the work and make more films. Again I like the cinematography in for the short film. It really had a unique film-making style. For example at the opening scene with the man's legs walking in the street and passes by a pair of woman's legs. And the main credits appear. I really enjoyed it and hopefully when I join the training program I can get a chance to make my first movie.
I have to admit to some degree of bias because I know Leanne and was an assistant to her on the film.
However, having been on the set with her I can attest that this girl is going places. This was Leanne's directorial debut, although I assure you if I didn't say it, you could never tell. Her creativity, energy, positivity, excitement and overall command of the crew and cast were reminiscent of a longtime pro. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity and an honor to be there for Big Apple Martini, and I'm sure someday when Leanne is a Hollywood "Big wig" I'll brag that I worked on her first film with her.
The film itself is very funny. Leanne wrote a great script, but the actors really knocked that script "out of the park". Patti Lauren is so hysterical as Aileen Deluca that five minutes into the short you find yourself laughing as soon as she appears on screen.
Josh Miedieros plays Drew - Josh is to Big Apple as John Travolta is to Saturday Night Fever. His interpretation of "The Player" Drew keeps you laughing out loud.
This film was accepted to the Palm Beach Film Fest and was one of the most attended shorts of the Festival. I have no idea of their judging methodology, but if there was a "People's Choice" Big Apple would have been the clear winner.
Great Job, and I can't wait to see more from Leanne!

- TriviaThe martini shot of the film was Josh Medeiros' feet as he walked to the club. The "sexy legs" he checks out are director Leanne Smith's.
