    Great Film

I just saw this film last night at the Pan African film festival in Atlanta. I was very impressed by the cast, script, and direction of the film. It was a good idea and well executed. My only complaint is the look of the film. At times it was grainy and looked like it was done on a home video camera. That still doesn't take away from the great performance that Jaszmine Lewis put on.

I would love to see this in major theaters, or even just art houses throughout the country. It tells a great story to and about black women... I look forward to seeing more work from Craig Ross Jr and Bobby Thompson.

Romcoms are always welcome to their fans but, this one has some risqué elements that some may not like, its too bad

Traci (Jazsmin Lewis) has been going out with a good looking man for a few weeks. SHE believes things are going to be entering the next level soon and she is glad. Her man is great looking, fairly wealthy and a good dresser. What a surprise when he not only turns down her invitation for a sleepover but breaks things off! What went wrong? What Traci can't see is that, despite being knock-out, drop-dead gorgeous, she is one demanding, petulant and ornery female who drives men away with her antics. A kind friend suggests that she contemplate her past relationships, the ones Traci was certain would lead to marriage, and try to figure out why these men all dumped her. First, there was the rich older man who Traci met on a blind date. Initially lukewarm to his interest, she changed her mind over the course of their year-long relationship. He seemed a sure thing, doting on her, so why did he end it? Ditto for the super athlete, whose competitiveness matched Traci's own, from Scrabble games and beyond. Finally, Traci thinks of the handsome businessman and the disappointment she felt when he left. Will Traci learn enough to change her ways? This theme has been done before but its still welcome and usually leads to a film ending romance. Not so here, although we get the feeling there are possibilities. Lewis is so beautiful and has the diva act down pat and the supporting cast is attractive and talented, too. However, although the costumes, sets, and direction are worthy, there are a few sexually charged scenes that will upset some viewers. Nevertheless, romcom fans will welcome another "find", if they have the ability to block out what's objectionable in this one.

They drop the ball with this one

This movie started out as a tolerable 2000+ indie romcom, that I thought was a 90s film from the production quality and stereotypical tropes. Its introspective aspect made it promising, but seemed to get muddy and lost as it rushed to reach its unsatisfying conclusions.

I generally like Mary Marrow films like How to be a Player and National Security which is what initially sparked my interest in the movie. I was actually surprised I'd never heard of this movie because there were many familiar faces in it. The majority of them were from other independent films but it good to see them working. What a let down. I was really rooting for this flick because I love and love independent Black films.
