    Some works...some doesn't.

This film was filmed with the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics in mind. The story finds a local civic group trying to find rooms for various athletes with families in the area. Mr. Smith accidentally agrees to take one. I say accidentally because his wife is an old battleaxe and he's afraid to bring anyone home to her and her stuff society friends. When he does bring the dumb jock home, he turns out to be far dumber than expected and he makes a nuisance of himself. As for the wife, she naturally explodes...so what is Mr. Smith to do?

As long as you aren't looking for big laughs, this is a pleasant enough time passer. The portion of the story about the athlete is a bit limp...how Mr. Smith deals with his wife, however, is quite entertaining.
