Brawn and Beauty. But no talent.

    Karan review :

Launch pad for Dara Singh's beta Vindoo. Typical '80s style actioner where a happy go lucky college dude falls for a bade baap ki beti (Trishna) but his life turns hellish after the villain brigade bump off his mother and get him behind bars. The action sequences looked heavily inspired from Ajay Devgn's Phool Aur Kaante (1991). Vindoo was all brawn but no talent. Trishna was beautiful but couldn't act. She had posed semi nude for a film magazine which garnered her a lot of attention. Unfortunately, the film flopped and both the leads faded to oblivion.

    Regards, Sumeet Nadkarni.

This was a launchpad for Vindu Dara Singh as leading man

This stormy love of a warrior brought such a storm in Vindu's life that he didn't get a movie for 10 years.

The movie starts with our hero Karan who is a karate champion but he participates in a strange Karate competition where they are doing Kushti in Dangal style in a boxing ring.

I found it very difficult to name the sport. I looked like generic karate but Vindu would suddenly give a Dhobi pachadh to his opponent and when the opponent would fall, the referee would whistle and start counting to ten.

But anyways this championship is won by Vindu. The actress in this movie is Trishna who is popular in college because she is a rich Anupam Kher's daughter. The corrupt politician's (Prem Chopra) son (played by some sasta 90s ka Villian) fancies her and wants to marry her because she looks hot.

She has some bold scenes (for perverts ). She also showers under a waterfall. She falls in love with Vindu because he refuses to be her Dance partner in the college dance competition.

So she tries to seduce him with a song. The actual lyrics are "Mera Peecha Chodne ka tum, Kitna Rupaiya Loge ? " " Bolo Ek Rupaiya, Yan Do Rupaiya, Yan teen Rupaiya, Yan Poora Chaar Rupaiya" . Vindu actually dances with notes of 1 rupee. First one note, then two notes, followed by three notes and finally four notes.

And she replies " Pyar ko paise se tole, Tu kaisa Anari hai. Khel pyar ka na Jane, Tu kaisa khiladi hai... This song is sung by Kumar Sanu and Lata Mangeshkar.

Then he finally succumbs to her seduction. But she insults the minister's son by giving him a chamaat. Now minister's son wants to marry her. So she insults Prem Chopra when he brings rishta.

So Prem Chopra wants to plants drugs in Vindu's mom's hotel through Kiran Kumar and gets her arrested. But Kiran Kumar and Sasta Mohnish Behl kill her instead.

Now Vindu gets jailed in drugs case and in the jail he meets Dara Singh. Dara Singh plays two characters in the movie. He is the Police Commissioner and he plays a prison inmate too. He says lines "Jab tak Puls (Police) ki maddad nahin karoge, Puls tumhari madad kaise karegi. "

The prison inmate Dara Singh's voice has been dubbed by someone who sounds like Pran. So you see Dara Singh but you hear Pran.

Ashok Saraf plays a Sindhi businessman and he speaks exactly like bollywood think Sindhis speak with their lines starting with Vari Sai and ending Aao Nee and Jao Nee.

There are no surprises. Vindu escapes from jail and takes revenge with Raza Murad, Kiran Kumar, Prem Chopra and Sasta Mohnish Behl.

The climax is different because all main characters are tied up in the villian's den. (This sounds like a trope) . No, it is different because there is a running attempt to rape. Yes, the sasta Mohnish Behl tries to rape Trishna but she runs so he runs and keep tearing her clothes. It is followed by climbing stairs rape and finally stuck in balcony rape. The final try makes it easy to Vindu to save the girl who is hanging from the balcony and the villian falls over. In the end there is happy ending.

Anupam Kher has such a layered character that he is a good guy but pretending to be a bad gut throughout the movie.

Vindu Dara Singh was actually decent in comparison to the other actors in this movie but I cracked up at the dialogue where he almost kills Kiran Kumar but says this " Mere Jism par ab tak us Vaishi Darinde ne Kabzaa Nahin Kiya, Jiski Pyaas Insaan Ke Khoon Se Bujhti Ho." and let's him go.

In the end he still marries this girl jiske chakkar mein itna bawaal hua.
