Sin ti

'Sin Ti' takes an in depth look at the life of a young woman, Lucia, whose world is suddenly turned into darkness after an accident. As the story progresses we see how Lucia, who's a wife, a mother and an artist, finds light in a world she once experienced as extremely dark. It's very much a sincere character-driven piece as we see most of the film through Lucia's perspective and the story flows beautifully. I didn't find anything pretentious about it as it kept me involved. 'Sin Ti' also manages to avoid clichés and unnecessary subplots. I wonder what the movie would have been without the beautiful Ana Fernandez's fantastic performance. Her portrayal of Lucia is humane, heartbreaking and suitably restrained. The rest of the cast especially Quim Gutiérrez do well too. Overall, 'Sin Ti' is a poignant film. It is informative but at the same time tells a moving story about a woman who has overcome her struggle in darkness.

"Sin ti" explains the incredible journey of a middle class woman into an universe of darkness, although the most important journey she does is inside her soul. She becomes blind after a domestic accident and as a results she must rebuild her own life and the life of her family. It's a movie about the light, not about the darkness. It's a metaphorical tale about our lives too. All of us are not able to see the most important things in life because of our selfishness, our desires and our fears. In that case, we all are blind people. Lucía, the main character of this story, finds out light and wisdom, and she is able to see things she couldn't see before. An interesting paradox. Ana Fernández' acting, as Lucía, is good, so is newcomer actress Carolina Pfaffenbauer. Raimon Masllorens, the director, knows how to take us into the deepest of our feelings.
