    Offensive Mediocrity

I am a Colombian movies fan, and I usually enjoy almost any kind of movie, regardless of its quality or formal expression. By that I mean that I tend to justify and give or find the valuable aspects, generally, having in mind that Colombian films are produced with very narrow and limited budgets. Anyways, as an active artist which I am, and with my professional background as a musician, producer and architect, and with a relative good criteria to evaluate cinematography, because I have a decent knowledge on cinematography history and conceptualization (which has been a major interest even at the university) I can tell that this is the WORST movie I have seen. It is an insult to pretend that the fact of using all the old stereotypical resources of the "costumbrista" y "populachero" like the unnecessary "putazo" or swearing and yelling of some famous actors, added to the not credible Leit motif of adding a religious figure to every single frame, plus the "creative" fragmented and incoherent plot developed within monologues through telephone dialog is weak and denotes some "formulism" by the director. Mr. Trompetero earned his popularity with a decent movie called Diastole y Sistole. That was quite creative by its time. But now, he pretends to use old worn out formulas to captivate the audience with some intelligent humor, but in a way that shows a will of not taking any effort, but to take the easy way. The point is, it never gets there. The movie even ends in a mediocre way that you can only see in stuff like Viva la Bam or Jackass.

oh my god this can't bee happening

Once more you can see the mediocrity in Colombia's cinema with this film. A very confusing plot, and themes that are not profoundly touched. The old jokes are made with the typical bad word and coursing by parts of the actors. A must see movie for Colombian filmmakers to know what things not to do in their future projects. With this "new wave" of Colombian filmaking, the filmmakers are been stuck in shallow themes for movies, in a dumb quest for "originality" in narrating stories. This director seems to be amused with Colombian celebrities (the movie is full of them) but not for the construction of the characters. Many of them are shallow and, me personally as a viewer, I didn't believe this characters were true.
