Skinwalker: Curse of the Shaman

Dysfunctional families struggle to hide their troubled past & to forget a misunderstood tragedy.

The heroine, Brooke Carter, subconsciously answers the call from the spirit world, which stirs the pot beyond the boiling point.

The local Anglos cannot bear Brooke's presence, because she digs into the past.

Brooke cannot disengage from the forces which have brought her to the vortex of an erupting power center. The only way out is through the bottom.

Amanda Paytas (Brooke) sets the screen on fire with her drop-dead gorgeous great looks. James Doohan ("Scotty" from Star Trek) turns in a fine performance as the retired Judge.

This starts out like a Blair Witch type of thing - with a couple "Big City" college students going to Hicksville USA to make a Documentary about an Indian Curse and it quickly degenerates into a mesh of stereotypical bargain basement horror antics, bad acting and idiotic clichés. I won't waste any time on the movies plot - what little there is - is the very definition of cliché and the acting is atrocious as for the technical side it's neither good nor bad (if anything it's thoroughly uninspired and unimaginative) but never really sets the mood and as such it's a very "flat" movie. This is a total waste of time and as a horror movie it it's not even a little scary - in fact the only scary thing about this mess is the ending - seeing that it suggest a possibility of a SEQUEL - now that is a truly horrifying prospect that might just cost a few nights sleep.

Saw this on the shelf at the local video store, and it looked like it had a possibility of being entertaining, so I gave it a chance. Once I started watching it, I wondered how this atrocity managed to be taken seriously enough to end up at any rental store, anywhere. It seemed like something some bored high-school kids threw together over the course of a weekend. Totally boring, unoriginal, and lacking any kind of acting talent. I couldn't even enjoy this in a "so bad, it's good" kind of way. I can't recall exactly what the box at the store had to say now, but it was good enough to convince me that this movie might be worth something; please do yourself a favor and don't repeat my mistake.
