The Phantom Cnut

Great little film.

This short is so well written and directed.

I saw it in a cinema in Sligo.

To be honest I thought it was better than the film it preceded Intermission - a load of dung capitalizing on Colin Farrel.

By the way Colin Farrel is an Irish spoof who pretends he is a wild child but really a fat guy who began in Ballykissangle.

Seriously anyone who wants a good laugh and a critique of the Christian brothers check this out.

the photography is great too.

This short film was made on a small budget, yet was fantastically inventive and really showed that big budgets aren't everything! The presence of Tom Hickey in the film was whimsical and clever.

The supporting cast, were only children at the time, but still their talent shined through, especially the leading lady.

Shot in 2 days, in Colaiste Connacht in Spiddal,Galway. This short was a compliment to the beginning of Intermission, and a compliment in general to Irish shorts.

The film uses shock tactics to withdraw a reaction from the crowd, yet making them split their sides laughing. Only 4 minutes long and set in one room the entire time. Phantom Cnut puts to shame other short films with it's clever approach to an uproaringly funny ending.
