    Big Trouble in Little Tokyo

The VHS I found this on calls it, amusingly, Tokyo Vice, presumably because its a much better name for this schlocky 80s action flick. Though the title (and rock-star intro) suggest sex, drugs, and money, that never comes. What you do get, however, is almost as good. A campy action romp centering around a mysterious data disk, and a man who died to protect it, full of government intrigue, corruption, and corporate assassination, this movie brings the grimiest side of the 80s to full view.

It's a great short movie, and a helluva blast with any action fans. I, personally, feel like the film gets maligned unfairly. It's not complex, and the main characters are very archetypal, but sometimes that's exactly what I'm looking for. I'm especially inclined to be more fair to the movie since, well, it's under an hour long, and unlike a lot of its contemporaries in the genre, has rock-solid pacing. Plus, it's very clearly well directed.

I gotta say, when it comes to the English translation you have to look past the rough spots there. I don't wanna knock the film for this, since it's not really its fault, y'know? I'd recommend leaning more on how the Japanese voice actors are acting rather than the literal translation at the bottom of the screen, especially if you have the OG copy of it.

    That's it?

Worst anime ever. This is the worst anime ever period to come hot out of Japan. Or cold because this OVA is a one dead body

The characters are dumb. There is guy, girl girl and guy and there was one person named Junpei and that's it.

The characters hold a McGuffin which some stereotypical mob boss wants. He's totally not Yakuza because that would be a good drive.

The animation is ok. It's your typical anime fair with big detailed eyed adults and it looks like every anime ever at the time. The animation is sort of smooth but nothing remarkable.

The climax has only car chases and giant robots which looks like Metal Gear.

The music is forgettable and the dub is bad.

Overall, Tokyo Vice isn't high octane. It's just bland. Avoid or if you want a cheap laugh watch it. Watch a movie with characters.
