I have loved this TV show ever since it has been released and even in 2019 it is still remarkable.
Yes it is Sci-Fi sometimes so therefor some of the scientific stories are not always going to be 100% correct you have to understand this and only then will you enjoy it for what it is.
The acting is brilliant as I have always liked Peter Outerbridge who plays the tough and hard David the main PHD scientist at NORBAC. A very underrated TV show that really didn't get the appraisal that it deserved probably because it is Canadian and I never heard of it till I found the season 1 box in my local supermarket in England back in 2006 as I have always loved science so I thought i'd take a risk and buy it... a risk well deserved.
It really is a show that makes you think.. What if we as humans went too far? What if we dug up a body in the permafrost that containted Spanish flu and somehow entered the food chain of wild animals then passed onto us... What if! and as Sci-fi we can enter this world and speculate very much like Jurassic Park as we all know the story of the mosquito DNA from amber was used and mixed with DNA of frogs to create dinosaurs.
Take the show for what it is and enjoy this masterpeice.

I don't usually post comments on stuff I like, I cannot possibly name a list of favorite sci-fi or favorite sci-fi shows but I can name some contenders and this one is on that list so far..
Since I'm a bit of a amateur scientist.. I can understand a lot of the concepts this show talks about because I do enough scientific reading to understand. (basically speaking this deals with a lot of modern scientific issues)
And I have to say that the first two hour episode of series 1 is just amazing.. I would highly recommend to people interested in a science related fiction story.. with a plot! (and this is science.. it's a science drama really)
I can't say however watching season 2 at the moment that I'm as awe inspired as season 1.. but we'll see..

I'm generally very hard on TV shows. It's so rare that I really get the desire to follow one through...I'm a fan of movies, and I don't have time to lose on something that actually doesn't end soon :) But, ReGenesis got me! I'm not sure I can fully explain why... Yes, I am science freak. I practically understand everything they're talking about without explanations. However, when I look at it, CSI is for science freaks too, but I could never really fall into it. OK, it's different type of science, but CSI always seemed to me too exaggerated, too artificial.
There's something about ReGenesis... It's dark and mystical, and yet, it brings such fresh and amazing ideas! Combining science of today, and science of future, in such a subtle way. Everything is so well grounded. I must give respect to the science consultant. There are no errors or holes, everything is so logical and so possible. And so real-life dark.
Actors and characters are all great, but my true fascination goes to director. Really fresh approach on light, on time dimension, on camera movements. Excellent job!
All considering... this kept me glued to my chair, I warmly recommend it! :)

As the summary notes I like this show because it excellent, Canadian, and shot in HD. Plus in Canada to find this original content on a digital channel is unheard of. Outerbridge was impressive as Detective Murdoch in "The Murdoch Mysteries" a holmeswellyan type broadcast on bravo. He performs equally here. The characters are well portrayed and are hard to put in to a box. They come across-ed as real not stiff or stereotypical. Some are definitely not hard on the eyes. Dmitry Chepovetsky is so believable as man social issues and a too huge IQ. The diverse ethnicity and backgrounds of the cast/characters adds interest and Canadian-ness to the show which I enjoy.
These genre of shows are starting to over saturate the networks. (science investigation, mystery, interesting locals) The closest comparison to be found on an American network would be "Medical Investigation". But as much as I enjoy Neal Mcdonugh the writing often stinks. I truly hope there is room time and money for mores seasons of this show.
Update: Season 2 is due in Spring of 2006. Yeah eh!

This show had me on the edge of my seat so many times. The main character was a mess mentally and emotionally, but that seems to be the trend lately - a brilliant but messed up genius. It does make for some twisty stories though, some very heart-wrenching. Also lots of politics and business power-plays that makes us think more than most shows.
A few story lines towards the end really stretched the imagination IMO, but overall, most of the stories seemed plausible (I took one microbiology course and lower level organic chemistry, so an actual scientist might think differently). I recommend it for viewers that enjoy House and Bones.
